First forum post, hope I did not come to the wrong sub forum!

This afternoon, I updated my iMac OS to macos Sierra. Update went smoothly and after everything was set up and i was at my desktop, my cursor started to lag a bit and froze up every few seconds. Thinking it was a problem with my mouse i unplugged and plugged my mouse back in but it turns out it was actually the computer. This lag continued for about a minute or 2, then the iMac just restarted. It has went through loops and loops of restarts and I have no idea how to go about fixing this.

Would greatly appreciate if someone could help me here!

it's a known problem, it happens because the processor is not powerful enough or you don't have enough RAM, what i did was load the Sierra installer onto a usb and did a fresh install to start off new and try and see if that worked, it did but your system might act differently...

****SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH IT'S REALLY TERRIBLE*****

Been married to my wife for 3 years now! Yay!

CPU can't be the issue since I haven't observed this on a Core 2 Duo Mac at all. If it's still on the factory 4GB of RAM, that's definitely a suspect.

@absolute these models are also known for their crappy WD Blues crapping out. Your HDD might also play a role in this. The amount of r/w cycles involved with installing an OS might have tipped it over the edge. I hope that you have more than the factory 4GB of RAM by the way. 4GB isn't really enough anymore and hasn't been for a while in OS X.
