Should I replace Thermaltake Suppressor F51 stock fans?

kingmustard

I have a Thermaltake Suppressor F51.

It comes with the following:

Rear fan

Presumably non-PWM
140mm, 12v, 3.5w
1000±200 RPM
50 CFM
0.3mm H2O
16 dBA

Front fan

Presumably non-PWM
200mm, 12v, 2.4w
800±200 RPM
130 CFM
1cm H2O
13-15 dBA

Do you think they're worth replacing? Maybe with PWM fans?

PWM just means you can run it at lower RPM than non-PWM, and you can tell by looking at the fan connector and counting the pins. 4 pins? PWM. 3 pins? No PWM.

As for replacing the fans, you need not they will work just fine.

PWM really doesn't matter unless you want very low RMPs. Unless they're annoyingly loud I see no reason to replace those.

Agreed, If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

As long as the temps seem normal for your rig I wouldn't change it.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

Why not run them for a while first and see if they're able to keep your CPU cool under load without screaming like Deltas praying to the airflow gods?

I'm not entirely sure what model the rear fan would be, but I can tell you that the 200mm front fan can run as low as ~200 RPM and is damn near silent up to about 600-700 RPM. Even at full speed, it's more of a low-pitched hum than typical high-pitched fan noise, and it remains quiet. I had one plugged directly into the PSU for a while with a 7V adapter on it, and didn't hear it at all from about 24 inches away.

If there is such thing as a 200mm PWM fan, I've never seen it.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Replace them for what reason? Are you finding the noise excessive or performance lacking?
