Japan has strick anti immigration laws that prevent people whom are not native born japanese from immigrating to the country. The only way to get around this is to either 1. marry a japanese native or 2. become an educator and gain your citizenship in service to japan. Other then that, Gaijin have pretty much no way to immigrate to japan perminantly.

It's incredibly hard to immigrate to any country permanently, be it japan or not. The US is a very good example of this, you can get a work visa but if you get fired you'll also get deported. Becoming a citizen of another country is not easy at all.

With that said there's practically no barriers if you want to go work in Japan. Some japanese companies were even offering internships here in Portugal. It's just the same as in the US or most other countries, you can't just stay there without a reason.
