Otherwise, if you really need a new GPU ASAP i would swing for the GTX 950 which is also very efficient and perfom rather well at 1080p...it's a bit overkill for your current monitor but will serve you well in the long run...also it's cheap you can find GTX 950 for around 130$ if you shop a bit...this card for example is super cute and very quiet, 125$ after MIR:

This card is decently faster than an RX 460:

http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-950-vs-AMD-RX-460/3510vs3641

And it's order of magnitude faster than your GT610:

http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-950-vs-Nvidia-GeForce-GT-610/3510vsm7736

I'd better wait for a 1050 then, i'm in no hurry. Also i'll change the monitor soon. Keeping my hopes up for 1050.

I'm looking to upgrade from my gt 610 to a better card. I want to know if gtx 1060 will bottleneck with my specs.
Current specs:
CPU - fx 6300
Mobo - asus m5a78lm
PSU - Corsair vs450
Ram - Corsair vengeance 4gb (will get 4 more)
What will be the best gpu option with my rig considering gtx 1060 mini as max budget.
It will be used for gaming and also i use softwares like PTC Creo, Ansys too.

based on my research that cpu will bottleneck your gpu and 1060 is a bit too much for 1360x768 resolution its more for 1080p gaming. you might get rid of the bottleneck if you overclock your cpu

for your system, the power of a 1060 will be wasted. I suggest either building an entirely knew PC with a better CPU, or purchasing the rx 470.

overclocking the CPU wont help that much unfortuntelty. As i said earlier, an rx 470 is far more appropriate for your build then the 1060. It will easily handle your current res as well as 1080p.

gtx 1060 mini and rx 470 almost cost same here. rx 460 is cheaper though and i might get a new monitor, not sure which. Also what will be better for future upgrade?...Next upgrade wont happen until at least 2 years as i play csgo most of the time at 70 fps in low settings which kinda works for me and i use parent's money as i'm just a student.

the 470 would be fine for cs-go and if you take the risk with the 1060 , and it does bottleneck you are basically wasting money

Gtx 1060 is as powerful as a gtx 980, one of the best card of previous gen, at 1366*768 it is going to be bottlenecked by your CPU . But that doesn't means performance is going to be bad. I don't know why people criticize bottleneck too much. Your performance is going to be a lot better than what your gt610 do now. You will be able to play anything at that resolution at ultra and really high framerate and fx6300 is still capable of doing that. Of course you are not going to see those triple digit framerates that a gtx1060 would provide at 1360*768 when paired with an i7 6700k, but sill you will be satisfied. Your current monitor is most likely to be 60hz and you are not going to see anything more than 60fps on that, so it doesn't matter if you are getting 90fps with fx6300 or 120fps with i7 6700k. The important thing is that you will be able to game at a much better settings with much better frame rates for now, so go for it if you have the budget, for me the major concern is the power supply. Probably it will work but no over clocking headroom left.

at such low resolution, even a GTX 750 or an R7 260 would be more than enough to run just about any game on maximum settings.

I would recommend either the GTX 750ti, GTX 950 or wait for the GTX 1050...if you plan to upgrade the monitor in the near future then that's another story.

yes i do plan to upgrade the monitor after 6 months or so, not sure about budget or anything but current monitor wont last more than a year. Its already 6 years old with a fraction of dead pixels. I also need to keep the power supply in mind, i have vs450.

i think you should hold off a bit and wait for the GTX 1050ti...it should be priced well and should have 4GB of video memory and decent performance at 1080p...also will be very energy efficient and will run on your current PSU no problem.
