yes for things like that its "fine" my Q6600 feels a bit slugish when compared to my I5 680 or even my I3 530 but its still enough for what you are asking of it here.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I think it will be fine with an SSD.  I had a q6600 as my first gaming pc.  the hard drive was YEARS old.  I replaced it with an SSD (only had 6gb of ram btw) and it became basically "brand new"  very fast.

Main PC: 4690k // Z97 // R9 280 3GB // 8gb Ram // CM Elite 430 Case // 750 EVGA B PSU // 1TB HDD

Living Room "Console" PC: FX 8350 // 990a SLI Krait // R7 360 // 8gb Ram // HAF 912 // 750 EVGA B PSU // 1TB HDD

Future Plans:

find a 2nd monitor at a pawn shop

Sell/giveaway R7 360, move r9 280 into console PC, buy a better GPU for main PC.

If you are going to get an SSD, be sure to buy a decent one of a brand that you already know of such as Kingston, SanDisk or Patriot. I say this because I recently bought an SSD on eBay and it was a brand I had never heard of. When I cloned my HDD to it had a corrupt partition and said that it would fail soon. Now it lies dead on my desk and I am waiting for a reply to say whether or not I get a refund. Please do not cheap out on the SSD... I paid £20 for mine at 60GB but I would now rather have paid £20 for a 30GB Kingston SSD instead.

Looks solid. If you have the money for it then that is your best option.

Yeah Patriot are a well known, reliable brand. At least they are in the UK, I don't know about the US or Canada... Anyway, I would say they are about as reliable or decent as a San Disk drive but obviously I don't really have anything to compare it to because these days most decent SSD's have pretty much the same speeds and whatnot.

Fair enough, costs have to be made somewhere eh. I tried with my SSD and used to use windows... It broke and currently I use Linux and think that is actually the best way to go now. No turning back.

Haha, I could never live with myself if I used my phone for most things except gaming. It just feels right... However if it is just a small internet search or quick email check then sure I am guilty of that on my phone but anything else... Its easier on PC.
