Precautions when moving PC?

Hey everyone,

 

Tomorrow my computer is getting built and it's my first time using liquid cooling. I went with a Corsair H110i CPU cooler because it's an AIO cooler and seemed like the safest bet.

 

My question is whether or not I should be extra cautious about moving my PC around with this installed?  Should I worry about about laying the PC down on it's side in the back of my car? I really, really want to avoid leaks as that would be a nightmare.

 

Any advice would be appreciated.

You really have nothing to worry about unless the metal bends where it's mounted to the case, and removing the whole cooler would be a pain just to move a little ways. The biggest thing to worry about is flex from your graphics card, everything else should be solid if mounted properly.

I would say an air cooler would be scarier since all the weight wobbling on your CPU can be dangerous. but with a small block you'll be fine. and with all those screws holding up the rad you won't have to worry.

I mean theres a slight chance it could leak. especially if its left in the cold and starts to freeze and expand. but trust me, the water will be fine. if it does leak water on your components, take everything apart as much as you can (GPU cooler and everything) and leave it in a highly ventelated, dry room for at least a week. make sure theres NO water left over whatsoever and trust me, once its all dried off you should be fine. the only way water kills electronics is if power is running through it.

I wouldn't worry if proper precautions are taken.

yes, graphics card and hard drives are what you really have to worry about. maybe package them separately. don't let them bounce all around and you'll be good.

dont drop it , dont toss it , make shure you have all your stuff screwed down (wobbly harddrive is a dead harddrive)

and make your your gpu does not sag like a watercooled 1080 , removing it might be a good idea

Place the case so that the motherboard is flat with the GPU up. That way any pressure or jolting won't damage the PCIe slot.

 

Or... Buy a baby seat and buckle your ATX full tower in it.
