Good RTS

Hey guys, im looking for an overall good RTS for me and maybe a friend or two to play. Im not into the spam 600 squads of units then one big fight thing. But if you do know one that is like that, still feel free to recommend it. Ive played LOTR BFME 2 and CIV V just to name a couple. I enjoyed both. So im just looking for something fun to play and relax with my buddies, maybe smash a couple AI.

Not too familiar with RTS games, but I know all the company of heroes games are on humble bundle for super cheap

I'm still a fan of Age of Empires 2. Can get the HD remake on Steam for a decent price.

If you're ready to try older games, Age of Mithology Remaster is a must pick.

Thanks for all the responses guys, ill check them all out. But i just did a little more research, how about 8 bit horde, 8 bit armies, or company of heros (like Slottr said). any quick review on those?

Company of heros has a humble bundle right now, hope they fixed the early problems of 2 by now, but the first game is really solid

The Total War series isn't a typical RTS, but I love it (plays similarly to the RISK board game with unit combat elements mixed in)

Ashes of the Singularity is supposed to be good, but I've never played it.

WC3 and SC 2 are both decent blizzard games.

Command and Conquer was one i played as well and it was decently fun.

 

 

not sure if any of that appeals to you, but that is some of my experience with RTS style games.
