Hi guys! I have a cat, and he's a real piece of shit when food is around. My dog, he can't jump so he can't go up tables like my cat does. When we're eating, he would jump up to a seat or a leg, which hurts because his goddamn nails are sharp af. He is less than a year old, and he's not much bigger than a adult's hand. We sometimes leave food around, and we leave the kitchen unattended when we're cooking at times. This motherf8cker decides to climb up to the table in kitchen and eat it. We have thrown away countless dishes because of this. How do I solve this problem?

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

keep the door closed in the kitchen, also you need to establish that this kind of behaviour is wrong. Tell them off, tell them that thats bad when you see him do it

No, we can't do that because it's cat's claws and it's their thing.

We don't have a door to the kitchen, and we've tried to do that. We've pushed him off, hit him (lightly) etc but it never works.

You're lucky, my cat will eat the food right in front of us. And one time we were making thanksgiving dinner and the turkey was finished first and placed on the table and we were making other food for thanksgiving and while we were doing that she ate the turkey. I don't have the problem with cat claws because my cat has been declawed. Not sure if there's an age limit for doing that though so might not be a solution for your cat claw problem.

Oh and there is no solution to the cat eating the food. The best you can do is hide it in the microwave or oven until you are ready to eat it.

well I suppose you could put it in a cage or a room while you cook or eat. But if your cat is anything like mine you won't get any peace and quite while you eat if you do that.

Yes, my cat is just like yours. He would become SO GODDAMN LOUD when we lock him out / put him in a room when we're eating. I can deal with him climbing up my keyboard or biting my earphone while gaming/working, but yeeeaaa, this is annoying.

Get a water bottle and spray him when he does something bad. He will relate bad things with being sprayed and eventually stop. Best way to train a cat.

My cat is loud to begin with, every time she goes upstairs she will meow 3 times as loud as she can and then go sleep in my sisters bed.

Lol my cat also throws up all over the place, don't know why she just does. Though when we feed her at very specific times she throws up less.

My my cat is like  19 so we kinda just let her be I guess.

My last idea would be puting putting her on a leash in the kitchen and while you eat.

Put copious amounts of lemon juice (or off-spray for cats if you can find it) where you dont want him to go, put it on the table and he should stay away from your food.

There's just no training some cats, some cats have just been put on this earth to make people miserable.

See one of our cats will eat anything we leave out. By anything I mean he has ripped open bread packages to eat bread, opened canisters that we stored food in, or whatever else to get food. We feed him a good amount but we found him as a stray and can't seem to shake him off the habit of eating everything. I kid you not the cat likes everything but fruit. He has eaten mexican food, italian, vegetables, and literally anything or everything else. Our only solution is to put him out while we eat and to let him back in once the food is put away. There is no training him to stop we have tossed him off counters and thrown him outside every time he does it yet he will not stop.

Nah, I'm a full blown crazy cat guy. As I sit here writing this, I have a cat sitting on my shoulder like a parrot.

Those people are just miserable people, can't fix that.
