Title says it all, which one would be better to buy? EVGA FTW GTX 1080 or the ASUS STRIX GTX 1080?

Both are great cards, I say it depends on which is the better overclocker and which looks better in your build.

Different PCPartPickers for different countries:

UK-----Italy----Canada-----Spain-----Germany-----Austrailia-----New Zealand-----'Murica-----France-----India

Well, with an i7, GTX 1080, Full tower and flashy lights, it can obviously only be for one thing:

Solitaire.

STRIX = better cooler, looks nicer IMO

EVGA = higher out-out-the-box theoretical clocks, better warranty support (ASUS GPU owners have experienced terrible things)

Both will perform virtually the same stock. If you OC, since the Asus has a better cooler, it can OC higher.

Both are RGB with neutral color schemes so it is mostly preference...

The cheapest. Or, if the price is almost the same, the Strix (they NAILED the cooler this time around...).

Does anyone has the Strix to compare? My FTW came with 2050 clocks from the box and I can achieve stable 2150 without extra voltage. Also I liked the look of FTW card, but I have to agree that Asus did nail their cooling capabilities this time.

Get the one you like the most. Better yet, pick an evga superclocked or the standard PCB Asus and save yourself some money. They will be virtually the same and the odd 50 bucks you save can go to the next card you buy.

Main rig: Shockwave - MSI Z170 Gaming 7 MOBO, i7-6700k, 16GB DDR4 3000 MHz RAM, KFA2 GTX 980ti HOF, Corsair RM1000 PSU, Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD, WD 7200RPM 3TB, Corsair Air 540 White, ASUS P278Q 1440p 144Hz display.

Laptop: Lenovo Y510p, i7-4700HQ, 12 GB (8+4) 1600MHz DDR3 RAM, GT755 2GB SLI graphis card, 1366x768 display.

Also the Strix Seems to be 60€-80€ more expensive after the priest have stabilized.

I'd simply get the cheaper one, or whichever one looks better if appearance is that meaningful. Both are going to perform very well at stock, and chances are, you probably aren't going to see a huge difference in overclocking potential unless you do something extreme like install a water block.

Ended up going with the ROG Strix. Microcenter had good pricing on them and honestly it was an availability thing as well. Just liked the look of it better than the EVGA ones. It runs awesome and the cooler is great. I have 2 in SLI and at idle the fan doesn't even run on it and idles about 35c. Using ASUS GPU Tweak I'm seeing 2000mhz in OC mode and under full load ~65c on the main card and ~58C on the top card.

Its so quiet in comparison to the whirlwind generating TRI-X 290Xs I had. I'll take my chances with ASUS Support.
