I found a 470 for about 200USD, and a 480 for about 280USD. The 480 has 8 Gigabytes of VRAM, and the 470 has 4 Gigabytes of VRAM. Which one would be better to get for gaming?

The 480 will perform better, but the 470 will be cheaper. I personally would get the 480, but if it's to expensive for you the 470 is still a good graphics card.

Of course the RX480 is better... and please refer to the cards as Radeon cards... not AMD.

Why not refer to them as AMD? AMD is the company that made Radeon.

Well, ofc. But when it's graphics cards it's Radeon VS Nvidia, and when it's CPUs it's AMD vs Intel. Never AMD vs Nvidia. Just saying though.

But Nvidia is a brand, just like AMD is. Radeon is to AMD as GeForce is to Nvidia. I understand what you are saying though. And I will swap my choice of words.

Sorry, but I would prefer the AMD card. Thank you for the recommendation though.

Fair enough. A good middle ground is the Sapphire Nitro RX470 8GB. Unlike the other RX 470s, it has the same memory as the RX 480 8GB, which runs at 8GHz thus narrowing the gap between the two GPUs, but if silence is your priority, get the MSI.

Silence is pretty great. I will get the 480. I also want an MSI card because of aesthetics.

The 470 is definitely the best option given the prices. There's a good chance you'll never use all 4 gigs of vram, and the difference in raw power is negligible given the price difference.

If you game at 1080p 60hz monitor, and plan on upgrading your GPU before your monitor, get the 470. It'll handle damn near everything at high/ultra with 60FPS.

If you game at 1440p, 1080p 120/144hz , or plan to get a 1440p or 1080p 1240/144hz monitor soon, get the 480, it'll handle most titles in 1440p60 and push more frames to the 120/144hz panels.

If your only concern is the VRAM, MSI does offer the RX 470 Gaming, Gaming X, and Armor OC in 8GB variaties. However, you probably won't go over 4GB at 1080p

Come Bloody Angel

Break off your chains

And look what I've found in the dirt.

Pale battered body

Seems she was struggling

Something is wrong with this world.

Fierce Bloody Angel

The blood is on your hands

Why did you come to this world?

Everybody turns to dust.

Everybody turns to dust.

The blood is on your hands.

The blood is on your hands!

I have decided on the 480. After this, I never plan to upgrade my GPU ever again. I just need enough for Minesweeper, and they haven't released a new version of that in a while. I'm kidding, clearly. But it makes no sense to me to get an MSI 470 with 8 GB for about as much as an MSI 480 8 GB would cost me.
