6700K Temps

So should I be concerned? I have double checked to see if my cooler is making proper contact on the CPU and it definitely is. I did use Antec Nano Diamond thermal paste which was old (4-5 years) and was not to easy to get out of the tube. I had a 2500K at 4.5ghz on the same cooler and if i remember correctly under load would only get to about 64c. With the new 6700K at stock settings with prime95 (lastest version) the temps get into the 80c+ mark. When playing games however (ARK, GTAV etc) the highest it has gone is 66c.

What did I say again? Reason why older versions are cooler is the lack of FMA3, which the 2500k also lacks. So there's really no difference running 26.6 or 28.9 on a 2500k as far as heat goes, whereas with a 6700k (that has FMA3 support) it's night and day.

FYI, 80+C on P95 and mid 60 in game is perfectly normal. Mine right now is on the high 70s, licking the low 80s every second or so. Don't sweat about it.

Temps are ok.

Hey guys,

Just want a second option on these temps. This temps are under 100% load, Prime 95 Blend test. Everything is stock. Using Corsair H100I cooler.

6700K Temps.jpg

I don't recommend using Blend. It will sometimes use stuff that will cause a severe RAM bottleneck, making it hard for the CPU to actually generate any heat, or use something that doesn't tax the RAM and allows the CPU to stretch it's legs. I also don't advise running that CPU at stock, especially letting the voltages unnatended.

At any rate, though, temps seem to be fine. Without more details, I can't really say they are higher / below what they should.

That's unusually high for a h100i, I myself am using a h100i GTX and my temperatures never peak 65c. And I'm running it with a 4.8GHz Oc with 1.41v.

That's strangely low. What are you using to stress the cpu and what are your fan speeds?

@CromaT Your temps seem normal.

Hey guys, sorry to reopen this. I have done some additional tests since Coretemp seems to give me inaccurate results. Ive switched to CPU-Z for voltage checks and Realtemp for temps. Used Small FFT's on Prime 95.

Stock at idle Voltage hovers around 0.960v-1.01.v

Stock under load voltage seems to hover around 1.360v

I am pretty sure I wont have any issues, Ive played loads of games and my PC has been online for 4-5 days now without any issues.

Apologies for the second post, I have additionally noticed that the one core (C1) runs hotter than the rest. Is this normal? From what Ive read online its normal (many variables involved). Additionally I enabled MSI's Gameboost function which set the CPU to 4.4ghz (1.3v) from what I can see no issues yet. Idle Temps are around 20-25c and under load max load (prime 95, small fft) The highest the temps got was 73c. I also made adjustments to my CPU fan speeds which seems to have helped.

Looks high for a H100i, but that might be due to P95. What's the ambient temp like? Also can you run Aida64 FPU and post those data?

Yeah, on my 2500K, one core is slightly hotter than the rest. It's all variable (Even down to how you applied the thermal paste). The temps look good to me. If you want to heat the CPU up some more, get IntelBurnTest, and run it on maximum. The first time you open it though, it'll crash and Windows will bug you that you need .net framework 3.0 to run it, just install it, and once it's done, Intel Burn Test will launch without issue.

The temps look good to me though, my cousin's build, I overclocked his 5820K to 4.3 GHz (I could've gone more, but the cooler couldn't take it). The H100i GTX was getting to 86C at full fan speed. You could feel the radiator heat up a lot.

Depending on ambient temps and voltage used, those are pretty bad temps for a 5820k at 4.3 with that cooler.

It had low RPM Fractal design fans on it, not the stock Corsair ones, but yeah, I'd agree it was running a tad hot to me. I can't seem to remember the voltage that I used, we backed it off to 4.0GHz to keep temps in check (With the GPU doing something, the H100i got even hotter).

Hey guys,

I have been doing a lot of researching and it seems that the latest version of P95 (28.9) is glitchy and buggy and generates unrealistic tempretures with its tests. Checked online and the best version is apparently 26.6 which i downloaded and tested and on both tests (cept blend) CPU temp at 100% load only went up to 69c. This is a huge difference in comparison to the 84c I got originally. when i first posted here. Thanks again for all the help.

There's a difference between ver. 28.9 being "glitchy / buggy" and it being able to squeeze every droplet of performance out of your CPU. Reason why ver. 26.6 is much cooler is because the FMA3 optimizations weren't implemented at the time. It doesn't heat up as much because it's not making use of all of the CPU features and not because the future versions have a problem.
