Is 8 gigs of ram enough for current gen titles?

I am wondering if 8 gigs of ram is enough to run current gen titles and will having 16 gigs improve fps and general performance.

8 gigs is still fine

Adding more RAM will not have an effect on performance unless you're managing to use all of your system's current RAM.

 

8GB is perfectly fine.

8GB is fine, but if your playing a CPU dependant game (normally the ones with lots of moving objects on screen at once) like planetside 2 then you will need to consider the ram speed.

Games like fallout 4, skyrim and battlefield are around half and half on their GPU/CPU dependancy but stuff like planetside 2 straight up wont run in some places without decent ram

No, 16gb will not increase ur FPS. (Unless you are running heavy programs in the background while gaming) :)

Just that there are a few games out there, and you should look into what speed you want.

8 gb is fine for today.
16 gb is more for video works and future proofing.

If you're building a gaming machine, go for 8 gb and use the save money on something else.

Get 16GB, be future proof. Get 2 sticks of 8GB's those are in the sweetspot - pricewise.

Not having to think about the RAM capacity in the next few years will be worth it ;)

8GB is "fine" in the sense that your games will run, but there are cases where you will have to be watchful of your memory usage. In a few gaming sessions I've seen usage of 5-6GB (can't remember what games) and up to 10 Firefox tabs open at once. I'm not one who goes nuts on their open tabs, so my memory usage will be lower than those who are.

 

16GB is more for peace of mind for the vast majority of gamers in my opinion, you'll basically never have to worry about RAM limitations for as long as your setup remains relevant to the current decade.
