i7 2600k vs fx 8350

Yestarday i asked this:

But the processor was already sold and today i found another deal on a 2600k for 140 bucks and i'm going to be buying a 980 ti or a 1070.

the question is: should i replace my 8350? and is my fx 8350 going to bottleneck my gpu? because i can oc the 2600k up to 4.0ghz

I say keep the 8350 but get a 1060 as a i7 2600k will most likely bottle neck more

it'll bottleneck in some games, the jump from the 8350 to 2600k is not worth it, you can OC your 8350 to 4.2 GHz easy and that will reduce the bottleneck. To be 100% honest with you, unless you are an extremist and use a monitor with a refresh rate over 60 and game at 4k you will most likely not even notice the bottleneck at all.

edit: also only CPU bound games will be affected and it's not like it will make the game choke with a 8350, your framerate will just not be AS HIGH as with a 4790k or w/e else is latest and greatest. Buy the 980 Ti / 1070 and enjoy it with your current rig.

An i7 2600k will be fine with a 1070. It will be rare that there's bottlenecking in games, and when there is, it will be very minor.

A GTX 1060 will perform far less with an i7 2600k than a 1070 will with an i7 2600k. I have an i5 2500k @ 4.6 Ghz, and a GTX 1070, and my in-game FPS are way higher than benchmarks of i7 6700k systems with a GTX 1060.

Just be sure to overclock the i7 2600k, to minimize bottlenecking (and because more performance = better, obviously).

he already has an 8350 and to be fair there is no major gain between the two.

so yeah after a little bit re search i found this:

if even the 2500k at stock beats the fx 8350 i think it's a good deal as well

If the question was getting the 2600K or getting the 8350, then yes. But given you already own the 8350, would I pay 140 + motherboard for the additional performance? I doubt it. It's like upgrading from an FX-6300 to an FX-8350 (except for the motherboard part), I don't think at this point in time it's the best use of money.

Then again, only you can tell how much of a gain is worth $140 to you.

trust me it's not as big a jump as you may think. I have both an i5 2500k and an 8350 at my disposal (2500k being my old cpu and 8350 my friend & old roommate's) and it really depends on each game at some games the extra cores on the 8350 make it pull ahead, in others the 2500k pulls ahead. I've seen the video you just linked and a few others from that channel and the games they seem to choose are always the damn same. do not waste money on a 2500k now, rather save and buy a newer i5 / i7 a few months down the line if you find your cpu to be troublesome.

please heed my advise, don't waste money on an old dated system if you already have a similar build.

i talked with the seller and he said that he wanted 230 for the processor and the mobo, he also said that he accepts my mobo for 60 bucks and my processor for 120 which means that the deal it's only 50 bucks. what do you guys think?

PD: the mobo it's a z77

so your trading your 8350 and the mobo for just the 2600k alone?

No, he receives my cpu + mobo for 180. Which makes the deal only 50 bucks

I do not think it's worth the risk of buying a potentially overvolted and deteriorated cpu and a mobo that might be refurbished to just work plus add money to end up with something so similar to what you already got. These deals pop up every few days, be patient, buy the GPU, test out the system, if you're unhappy with the results save a little more and buy a decent CPU like a 4790k or newer i5. The performance difference between the i7 2600k and the i5 2500k is literally 1 - 2 % in games and as I said earlier the 8350 trades blows with the sandy bridge processors.

That's not a bad deal. If the motherboard has the features you care about and you don't need to replace any other parts, I'd say go for it.

Make sure that you're going to oc in order to take advantage of the faster threads though.
