Does this even support an i7 because of Haswell refresh?

Also if I went skylake what if i sold my RAM, CPU, MOBO to make some money back?

oh and the skylake thing! Selling your stuff probably wouldn't give you /too/ much back, but that's truly up to you. You can totally do that, but do know it would be more costly, besides...if you're just gaming you don't really need that extra horse power. (Again, your choice)

According to MSI's compatibility list, the 4790 is compatible. Just make sure you update your BIOS, or make sure you're already using the latest revision. The 4790 requires version 7817vA4 or later. You could also look into getting a Xeon E3 1230v3, as that's basically just a rebranded i7-4770 and often cheaper. Again, it's compatible with the board, just update your BIOS first.

Don't bother getting a "K" version unless you somehow find one cheaper that way. You can't overclock on a B85 motherboard anyway.
