Is the GTX 1070 good for 4K?

I am trying to decide between getting 1440p or 4k monitors, but I don't know if my graphics card will hold up with games at 4K. Will the gtx 1070 get decent fps at 4k (40-80)? Thanks!

If you turn down settings you can get away with 4k, but you still need SLI 1080s if you really want to max out 4k.

get a 1440p monitor instead.

 

you'll get those frames if you turn down the settings

look at some benchmarks. even the 1080 gets 40-50FPS at 4K today, so in a year you will need to lower settings on a 1080. the 1070 isn't good enough for 4K

I prefer performance over pixel density so definitely 1440p for me.  

 

But some people like more pixels, so you'll be ok on 30hz (cinematic games) or low settings (competitive games) on 4k with a 1070.  Almost nobody likes tweaking each game to get a good experience though.

1440p if you want great performance now

OR get 4k, play at lower res/settings and you can get another 1070 later if you want for 4K. Only use the 4k for media, not gaming.

A GTX 1070 only gets medium performance at 1440p (typically below 60 FPS in graphically-intensive games), so it isn't going to be all that good for 4K.
