It failed because you upgraded instead of properly doing a clean install.

You can do a clean install now to fix it.

You don't need a disk or a key or anything, just a 4GB USB drive.

If I do this clean install will I need to get a new key as i do not have the current key for it.

My computer downloaded a windows 10 update and installed it while was busy so i have no idea what update it was. But it had failed to update and when it tried to do a system restore i got a error saying it could not do a system restore . The Error was 0X80070017. It then try to diagnose the problem and that failed., tried to do a auto repair and it failed saying windows couldn't load correctly and shows Log file: c:\WINDOWS\System32\Logfiles\Srt\SrtTrail.txt. How do i fix this as This laptop was originally a windows 8.1 laptop so I have no disk or anything for windows 10.

It is not that I do not want windows it is I start up the laptop and can not get past one of the 3 screens, The Repair, system restore, the diagnoses screen. I do one it fails then it recommends to do another one. over and over. Or i start it up and it says there was a problem and it collect some info and starts doing the auto repair.

If your system runs a UEFI BIOS, it shouldn't have to. Most laptops that come preloaded with Windows 8/8.1 will be running a UEFI BIOS.
