I was trying to change my downloads folder from my windows install drive to my storage drive when I accidentally assigned the whole drive to the downloads folder not the individual folder I chose. Is there any way in which I can undo this and make a specific folder the downloads location?

Thanks

Harry

What are we talking about here? From a internet browser? A system folder? If it's a browser, it's in the settings. If it's the "Downloads" folder in your user directory, right click on the folder, then go to the "Location" tab and change it there.

Go to your library or My Computer and right click the Downloads folder to go to properties.

In the location tab, you can assign which folder is the downloads folder.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

That is not how you should change folder location.

This is the correct way:

That's the inside of your C and D drive.

Can you find your current downloads folder in the start menu search bar?

If the library location has been changed, the old folder won't be a library any more.

Not even under customize?

You know you can also just make another folder on your other drive called whatever you want and then in your browser change change the default save location?

It's because the folder is no longer a library folder.

That will only fix it for the one browser though.

You have to make a Downloads Library (open the Libraries folder, right click somewhere empty, select "New", then select "Library"), then include it there.

There is another fix to this but it requires making a new user account, moving the contents of your old one there and starting over. That is if right clicking on C:\ and bringing up its properties doesn't show this tab we're talking about.

That is your Downloads library. Right click the folder and go to Properties. You can change the Downloads location there.
