My First budget build... where to go next?

JakeySRi

hi guys, new to all this so go easy

decided to have a go at entry level PC gaming and have built my first rig

on a tight budget so go easy

although my hardware isnt the newest on the market its enough for what i need.

MOBO; MSI 970 Gaming

CPU; FX6300 @ 4.2gHz

RAM; 12gb DDR3 1600mHz Hyperx

SSD; Kingston 120gb (os only)

HDD 1.5TB SATA7200rpm

GPU Asus GTX750TI 2GB

PSU  Atnc 550W PSU

as mentioned   its not great  but it does everything i want it to do

but ive now got "the bug" and want more!

where would you go next?  i was thinking of changing my GPU for a MSI RX470 8GB

is the card any good? how much of a performace increase can i expect compared to the 750ti?

thanks

That is a very good upgrade, can you afford RX 480? The performance increase will be huge.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT 16GB GDDR6 Motherboard: MSI PRESTIGE X570 CREATION
AIO: Corsair H150i Pro RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB 3600MHz DDR4 Case: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic PSU: Corsair RM850x White

470 crushes 750ti but i recommend u go for rx480 so that u can play most games at highest settings and trust me u will thank me later

And buy 8 gb ram its more than enough. With that exyra cash buy rx480

Look for second hand gpus. A lot of the 900 series gpus like the 970, 980 are going as cheap as a 480 or less for better performance.

Not really - not to mention DX12/Vulkan performance on Maxwell is crap

No, that doesn't affect anything. I'd say either a RX 470 or 480 (depending on what you can afford)

Im pretty sure dx12 should not be a factor when purchasing a gpu it only offers about 8 to 13 frames extra in 1080p in my personal testing (gtx970 and rx480)

That's actually a sizeable amount. Not sure why you want the OP to buy a less powerful GPU

not that many now, but remember that they were released not too long ago, unlike DX11 which was years. there aren't as many dx12/vulkan titles now, but that number WILL increase, which will make his point more relevant.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

OP says he wants to upgrade.

Also, you never know whether those titles will perform good on AMD or NVIDIA.
