Are PSU cables reversible?

So I have two cables both of which go from a 8-pin to a 8+6 pin, the psu only takes two 8 pins for vga. I only need two 8 pins for my gtx 980ti so can I reverse the cables to that I don't have to see the hideous 6 pin cables? Thanks.

No. Go ahead and try, they won't even fit in the plug.

It;s on purpouse to prevent people from plugging it the wrong way like you want to do.
