Is the 460 worth it?

Currently using an i5 6500 with an R7 370, the 370 isn't a bad card, I got it for 120$ on sale the 4G model from sapphire but I'm looking for an upgrade. I can play almsot any game I want if I sacrifice settings for 60 fps, but I want to be able to get a little more FPS. On really high demanding games (Rise of the TR and BF1 the most demanding so far) I normally use FXAA and all low settings (I hate jaggies) on 1080P and get good fps, on lower games I can bump stuff up a bit. But anyway I'm asking if the 460 is worth it because I'm seeing its around 100-150$ depending on what version you get, would it be a better upgrade over my 370? I saw on one guys review that some games the 460 and 370 were close to each other in performance so is upgrading not worth it? Should I save up and just get a 470/480 or 1060?

It would not be an upgrade to get a 460, and you might see reduced performance in most cases.

 

A 470/480/ gtx 1060 is way better and will max out games at 1080p.

The 460 is not a significant upgrade. But if you can sell your 370 for enough then it might be a nice side-grade. The 480 8GB would be the better upgrade from your options.

That's what I was thinking was to sell my 370 however I probably wouldn't get more then 100 for it and as you said its more so a tiny boost rather then a massive one...

What on earth is with pricing right now? 430$ for a sapphire 8G 480? 300 for others?

Yeah. Pricing is weird all over the world for GPUs . 

 

Anyways, have you looked at RX 470s? Here they are a lot cheaper than 480s and the performance difference is not really that big. If you want to game at 1080p, a factory oc model like the MSI TF 470 is very, very good. It performs on par with the regular, non-oc 480s.

I will look into it however I don't know if ill have the cash, only reason the 460 peaked my interest was the price. I have 83$ on amazon and could sell my 370 giving me what I need but I only want to save 60$ if possible I was going to get gears of war 4 lol, maybe I'll hold off on upgrading until I can afford to future proof. Like 1060 or 1070 future proof.

 

I can probably do so around cmas, my mom says im too old for gi joe toys and trains now so shes just gonna give me money.. I really wanted trains though

Unless you're just playing Rocket League and Overwatch there is no card below the RX 470 worth considering. The dropoff from RX 470 to anything below it is pretty substantial.

I agree. 

 

Maybe the 1050 will be  cheaper viable option, but that is just speculation. And when will it even be out?

It really isn't actually, they perform similarly (you need compensate for the factory overclock and the extra VRAM of the card tested here):

Regardless get something like the RX 470 at the very least, the RX 460 isn't any better overall.

Thanks guys, I was pretty sure it wouldn't be worth it, I'd get maybe a few FPS more in a few games but not much.
