The Samsung drive is better, but the difference is highly unlikely to be noticeable to you, and thus I would recommend the cheaper drive.

Not that the Samsung drive isn't faster.... but there is no reason anything else on that list is relevant... Micron/Crucial is one of the best flash makers in the world (they make all Intel's flash), and have by far the best customer service I have ever seen. Both drives are 3d-TLC VNAND so it is not a particularly useful distinction there either.

Not a big difference but I'd get the Samsung just because I have nothing but praise for my 3 year old 840 EVO

The fact there there are like 100x more samsung SSDs in circulation and people have no issues with them is a good enough reason.

The larger the sample size, the more information there is about any potential issues.

Actually, Samsung's market share is less than 3x Micron's, and less than double of the Micron/Intel collaboration.

 

Q4 2015 RMA rates for SSDs....

 

- Intel 0,18% (contre 0,15%)
- Samsung 0,28% (contre 0,18%)
- Kingston 0,28% (contre 0,32%)
- Crucial 0,29% (contre 0,41%)
- Sandisk 0,49% (contre 0,48%)
- Corsair 0,94% (contre 0,27%)

 

(Contre is the year before...)

 

Point remains, the only reason to go with the 850 Evo is the speed OP probably won't notice. The only reason to go with the MX300 is the cost, which he might or might not.

Memory is far far worse of a showing for Samsung (relative to Crucial anyways, not relative to anyone else). This is just SSD's.

 

You'll note the Crucial BX100 is the only SSD to have literally 0 returns over it's entire product line.

 

Again though... Company just isn't a good discriminator in this instance... Samsung vs almost anyone else fine, but not Micron.
