Good 4k editing build?

Laxer17

I just posted on here but I think I got something that works.

Any thoughts on this for under $1550????

I want it to handle 4k editing out of the box with no overclocking.

I will have 1 fan in the rear and 1 fan up top. I'm fine with putting the quality to 1/2 I guess.

I had a 5820k but the 6700K should still be good for editing right????

I HAVE A 980TI FOR F**KING EDITING. NOT ALL OF MY APPLICATIONS CAN / WILL SUPPORT THE NEW ARCHITECTURE I GET THIS QUESTION EVERY TIME.

lol sorry for being harsh but I just need to clear this up tell me what your thoughts on the build!

and this is the cheapest 980ti right now that's new so I'll take it.

I would recommend not getting a reference 980ti. get some sort of aftermarket one. they run faster, quieter, and cooler. even if you have to pay a few extra bucks for one, it would be a worthy investment. not to mention if you ARE okay with overclocking, you can get some serious performance gains over reference with an aftermarket cooler.

Also, if you're not interested in overclocking I would recommend getting a xeon rather than an i7 or X99. I don't know enough about them to recommend an exact model and motherboard, but you could save some money for equal performance by going that route. But yes, an i7 is very capable of video editing.

watch Tom Lowe scrub through 4k footage without a problem on a gtx 580 ...

people need to chill with the ridiculous recommendations

OP you build looks good

What happened to your 5820k system? why the new system build?

Yes..... its "fine"... but for 30 bucks he can get something significantly better. doesn't really make sense not to. I know everyone has their budgets they gotta meet... but he really should make that investment.

Not sure it it's worth the extra $200 and I'm pretty scarced I'm gonna screw mobo in to hard and break it.
