vr Good laptop for VR use?

Hi Guys!

 

Could do with some help... I work for an IT company that provides the education sector in the UK with IT Support and Services. We have a new school that's opened very recently which we've already installed 10 HTC Vives, 10 Rifts along with 25x Workstation's with GTX 1080's.

 

They're after a laptop that can used as a portable VR solution for use in the classes where we have a Vive but no powerful workstation. Any suggestions? I was thinking a laptop with an i5 or higher with GTX 1060, maybe GTX 1070? Would anyone suggest a particular laptop? Needs to be as good'a value as possible

well you need to find a solution that would give the laptop power and still let it get fresh air. After that get something like this

Get one with a true quadcore CPU, not the hyperthreaded dualcores they call i7s... a 1060 would work, but try and get one with a 1070 if possible.

I should perhaps re-phrase my original question. The laptop isn't going to be in a back pack on the person or anything quite like that (although I love the idea myself), it's a machine that'll get plugged in to different rooms where there are HTC Vive's already fitted.

 

3DGamerOnSteam - I hear you buddy, any ideas on a good gaming laptop model for them to use? Other than the Sager ones.

You should try the new razer blade, it's said to be vr ready, but the price is too expensive.

He should NOT even consider the Razer Stone - it overheats and can't run VR properly

Tell me about it... It's awesome They're a Design and Engineering specialist school. They also clearly have a bottomless pit of a budget too

If battery life is not important to you - MSI GS63VR - it runs hot so keep that in mind and battery lasts for 2-3 hours only.
