This is my first gaming build. I will be using this PC for gaming and normal browsing/school use.

I want this build to last for at least 5 years, so I tried to go for as much upgradability as possible. In case I need better graphics in the future, I can add another GTX 970. Same with storage and M.2 ports. Any feedback is appreciated!

Please don't ever call a bukd future proof while using a last gen gpu lol. Get at least a Gtx 1060 (or rx 480). Other than that, looks fine.

Go with 10 series GTX.

The 1070 is too expensive, and the 1060 is not SLI compatible.

And one other thing- get a better psu that is lower wattage. 750w is extreme overkill for that, 650 or even 550 is much more reasonable. With the money you save from that, upgrade the quality of the psu.

The thing is, technology won't stay with the same socket as if you want to change your CPU to a different platform. Companies do this so you're forced to buy the CPU, Motherboard, and maybe RAM like with skylake and DDR4

Would probably go with a RX 480 8gb or try and squeeze in a 1060 6gb because the 970 is old and you can get better for the same or lower price.  And that power supply is not good.  Try an EVGA G2 or Corsair RMx, more expensive but definitely worth it.

1060 is sli compatible, buy a 1060. Unless you are on a extreme budget, NEVER buy a last gen card.

It is, search around and you will find plenty of benchmarks. Regardless, I would never recommend sli last gen cards over new gen cards. It just makes no sense to buy a 970, regardless of whether or not you intend on using sli. Ultimately the decision is yours. However, sli scaling is far from perfect and you are far better off buying a 1060 over a 970. By the time the 1060 is irrelevant, I would recommend just replacing the card entirely with a modern card. Sli as an upgrade option is not a good way to go, in fact I believe Linus made a video about it a while back.

Thing is, many people plan to just slot in another card later, but that just really doesn't end up happening and when it comes time to upgrade you will probably have access to a newer faster card for a similar price that will suit you much better then by that point a 2 generation old card.

No, there is no signatute here, deal with it.
