Buying new SATA cable question

Bleedingyamato

I was just thinking about the SATA cables in my desktops and how thick and stiff they are.   (Godoka please no dirty jokes about that.  ?)

Anyway, are there sata cables that I could find on Amazon.com or maybe Newegg if Amazon doesn't have any that would be more flexible and maybe thinner so they'd be easier to cable manage and won't fight me so much when trying to use them in my computers?

Also, are there different quality rated cables so I know to get the right ones?

Wouldn't want to get crap SATA 3 cables that don't deliver the full speed they should.

I've got some cheap(ish) SATA2 cables on a SATA 3 SSD with no performance issues, they're pretty much the same thing.

They are SUPER NOT THE SAME THING. Completely old and outdated spec. If they aren't affecting SSD performance, then you might have a really slow SSD.

The physical interface is TX and RX on 4 LVDS lines with 3 ground connections, that's the same between all revisions. There's no provision to add more data lines to the cable or connector, a decent cable for SATA 1 should work fine for SATA 3. It's the same as high-end audio cable bullshit, paying more does get more up to a point, usually through the quality of connectors and cable termination. After that, it's all marketing crap.

You can dip them in warm water (the cables between the headers only) for a few minutes.

Thank you I'll take a look at those.

Sorry.  I wasn't sure if talking about cables counted as being specifically storage related since not just storage drives use SATA data cables.

I don't know if I'm brave enough to have water near computer parts...

Let's just say I once broke a laptop and water was involved.  ?

Yup!!! Might be free with a membership or min. cart balance. I dunno, they are the same prices as my local store so. But Newegg has millions of products, while my store does not.

Welcome to Canada! xD

Yeah shipping isn't the best for Newegg here, for the OP I believe NCIX and Performance PCs also carries Silverstone CP11 cables.
