Windows 10 Bandwidth

pokechat8978

Let me start this by saying, I don't have the best internet in the world. I have a 6/0.8 connection, and that's what I'm stuck with for now.

Windows 10 appears to be extremely bandwidth heavy.

Earlier, I finished all the updates that are available, so I would go and watch Youtube only to find that it's loading at 200 Kbps, and that my bandwidth is being sucked by "Service Host: Local System".

Under it, I find Windows Update and a few others. Keep in mind that there are no updates to do.

Has anyone else experienced this and/or found a workaround?

Edit: Should mention that I am on the Anniversary Update.

Specs:

i5 4460

Asus H81M-A

Club3D R7 260x

480GB Adata SP550 (Boot drive)

1TB WD Blue

Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Advanced Options > Choose how Update are delivered.

Then Pick: PCs on my local network

This should help. You can also set Store apps to update manually.

Store > Account picture (image next to the search box) > Settings

Turn off: "Update apps automatically". I suggest to not forget to manually check for updates (Store > Account picture > Download & Update) if you do this.

New features and bug fixes are delivered every now and then.

Lastly, you can reduce telemetry data by going to: Start > Settings > Privacy > Feedback & Diagnosis, and pick Basic

Go to Settings > Update and Security > Windows Update > Advanced Options > Choose how Updates are delivered

Disable the Updates from more than one place thing. This feature was introduced to use sort of a bit-torrent method to share update packages from one computer to another instead of having everyone download from a handful of servers.

I have that disabled.

There might be one PC that may have that enabled still, but I can't check at the moment.

I've done all of that.

I've had the Update From More Than One Place turned off ever since I reinstalled.

Manually check for update on Windows and Office, update those. restart the computer and check again, and it should leave you/

If not, it is something else...

Oh! Forgot:

Start > type: Defender > pick Defender.

In Windows Defender, which you just opened, click on Settings, and turn off "Cloud based Protection", and "Automatic sample submission", and restart your system.
