R9 390 trouble shooting (card not reaching its designated core clock)

Aidos882

Hi, today i noticed after benchmarking Farming sim 15 that my fps count was much lower than it used to be when first building my pc. I use a 1080p monitor which runs at 60 fps which i use to max out with out fail with my r9 390 clocked @ 1100MHz and i5 4690 with a normal core clock. today i am loosing frames down to 30 at times. I opened up MSI afterburner which i use to overclock and monitor temperatures and my graphics card is sitting at basically idle and not boosting past 385 MHz... temperatures are at their usual 64 degree celcius

Please help!

Increase power limit to max, make sure your clocks in afterburner are 1100mhz etc

Why are you still on 16.6????

Go update your drivers to the latest one (16.8.2)

Does anything improve if you force your GPU to run at normal speed all the time or disable power efficiency in the driver settings?

uhh.. try flip the BIOS also that GPU usage definitely not right for an idle card. Anything else open on the background?

Use DDU to nuke the drivers and use 16.7.2. Then run a scan with MalwareBytes to make sure you don't have a Trojan

Any updates, I get the same 100% to 0% usage on my GPU, but upgrading my CPU in a few weeks, not worried, yet still very good frame rates which is weird.

Do you get this anywhere else then when browsing the internet?

i would suggest flipping off "hardware acceleration" if you are using a browser that has that feature

Farming sim...???

Open Radeon Settings and disable "Power Efficieny" it will stop trying to conserve power in non-demanding 3D applications

Still no improvement after a malware scan and removing drivers with ddu and reinstalling
