Laptop for University

I have 800€ and search a laptop for University

i should have 8gb ram

max 1080p panal because i dont want to push as many pixels

and it should be light enough to carry around

and it should have enough performance to run overwatch at medium 60FPS and cs go at high 60 FPS

nice would be shadow play to record a smal clip here and there

Bare in mind that shadow play isn't as much of a necessity as you may think as OBS and Xplit can perform those tasks just fine.

In terms of finding you something with what you want, I'm not sure when University generally starts in Europe but if you can wait a month or two for when the newer mobile GPU's, the older laptops will drop in price and you're more likely to find something that would work as being a light gaming machine. Not to mention that Intel's Kaby Like processors are due soon as well so if possible wait.

if not consider looking at the Asus ROG line (the slimmer models of ourse), Lenovo Y series (they come with a harddrive but my friend has an older y50 and replaced the 2.5" HDD with an SSD), or perhaps something from the MSi line.

Since you aren't concerned about battery life, look for a Quad-core CPU (6th gen preferably), Nvidia GTX970M (960M might work as well, not 100% sure on that), and something with decent thermal performance. notebookcheck is a great website to look at that kind of stuff.

Best of luck!

You won't find a thin and light laptop that can run games for that kind of money. The cost around 1500Eu or more.

Doubt you'll find a gaming laptop for that budget. I Highly recommend a Macbook pro 2010 model onwards, upgrade with an SSD, and perfect for light work! Got mine for £270 with SSD included = 311 euros

Then spend the other 500 euros on a entry level PC??

I disagree, works flawlessly for what I need it for. (Notes, music, youtube, skype, LTT Forums... and small and light for a laptop :))

I have an SSD in it, I would wholly agree if it had a HDD in it, rip that piece of ...

And it throttles due to heat, has no warranty (so if a component fails that's his money down the drain) and has shit battery life compared to modern ultrabooks. Why would it be good again?

I'm never away from power... Battery life is around 5-6 hours.

Warranty - I would happily buy another one for the same price xD

Jeez, I like the looks, the weight, the LED backlit keyboard (shame it's not rgb 9_9) and does every job I want it to do.

Why you have to be mad? Probably because you have an R9 280...............................

Because a person's hardware is indicative of his personality? Nice logic...

Because the size is nothing to write home about, the keyboard is flat out atrocious (the butterfly switches offer next to no travel and zero haptic feedback) and 5 hours on battery for an ultrabook is a disgrace when something modern gates 10-20 hours (yes, 20 hours).

For you maybe but not everyone wants to dump 400eu on a used POS every 6 months due to motherboard failure or any other type of hardware issue. Macbooks are not user-serviceable and thus are a poor investment when buying used.

Works. For. Me. As I said only need it for Notes, music, youtube, skype, LTT Forums.  Plus I have a Gaming PC, so this is just a, walk to university, do work, go home laptop.

Keyboard is more than acceptable, and the 2010 model has been on the market for what 6+ years, still not broken.... NOT A POOR INVESTMENT! Especially when 2016 models are what £1000+ eeek that would be a poor investment...

And how do you imagine Overwatch running at 60fps on a MBP 2010?

Cause for 400Eu there is no way in hell he can put together a PC capable of that.

I agree with you, no way. However he WOULD be able to put together a 500Eu PC which would be able to play overwatch on medium 60fps.

Don't twist my words. I said he wouldn't find a THIN AND LIGHT one. The 7559 fits his requirements perfectly but it's simply not an ultrabook.

And what about monitor, speakers and keyboard? Factor that in and the PC budget is less than 400Eu. At that point, you are looking at an APU system. Waste of money in every way possible.

I am quite happy with my Asus N551J - i7 4720 HQ, GTX 950M, 8 GB ram, 1 TB HDD, it cost 1000 €, or about 800 € + 22% tax. It runs games that I play (Borderlands 2, Supreme Commander, World of tanks) pretty well, almost as good as my desktop.

Ya... OP you're stuck in a place where you realistically aren't going to find anything other than maybe an Acer or HP Omen but you're sacrificing build quality and overall reliability. Looking in to a Venom Blackbook or even Clevo/Sager can also be options, but again if you can wait for the new hardware to come out you might be able to get a better deal.
