can't say until BF4 is out, with mantle it should be quite solid considering it will automatically adapt to the amount of cores/threads available. Making it even more compelling value for the price.

I'ld still overclock it to hell and back though. It's an unlocked CPU and your really wasting potential if you keep it at stock. Even on a stock cooler at least some OC can still be had

Overclocking is a no-go, I'm rocking the CX500 lol,

You can still get a bit out of it even with 500w available.

You sure? Are you willing to send me a new power supply? The FX-6300 is a power hungry CPU, it pulls around 225 watts at full load... http://www.techspot.com/review/586-amd-fx-8350-fx-6300/page7.html I wouldn't risk overclocking, ok maybe a little... :)

get an 8320 and a cooler and overclock to 4ghz and be done with it, IF you already have it overclock it to 4.2 and you'll be fine, my phenom doesnt max out on bf4 (close but not maxed).

Okay i have a fx-6300 and i can play BF3 maxed out +50fps on (64 man caspian border) but however whenever i try to play bf4 i can't get over 10fps on low probably cause it's beta (maybe) it might preform better after some updates but for now bf4=unplayable  bf3=very playable and i have a 550w psu and a 970 chipset overclocked to 4.1GHz.

My build: Cpu: (AMD Ryzen 7 1700) Heatsink: (Deepcool Captain 240 rgb) GPU: (Zotac AMP! GTX 1060 6gb) Ram: (Corsair LPX 8Gb DDR4 2400) Mobo: ( Gigabyte AX370 Gaming K&) Case: (NZXT Phantom 410 Gunmetal) PSU: (Lepa B550 550w) OS:  (Windows 10

get a 6300 or 8320 for bf4, but I don't know about pairing it with a 7970 maybe get a 7950 or 7870 (with the 6300) for the full performance out of the card, I might go with something like a 3570k or even 2500k if your stuck with a 500w psu (which should even be enough for an 8320 oc'd with minor voltage changes)

My friend can max bf3 on his 6300 and 760 so you'll be fine for that and I'm sure you'll be fine for bf4 as well.

I wouldn't oc--actually why a 7970 with a cx500? An oc'ed 7950 would have been cheaper with pretty much the same performance.

My FX-6100 is suppose to draw out 95w even thought its OC to 4.2ghz AIDA64 shows its only drawing out 75w'ish so you should be able to get a bit of juice out of your CPU as long as you keep low on those GPU OC's.

I had a client with a cx430 that couldn't handle his fx6300 @ 4.3GHz 1.35v and a GTX660, so i would venture to say the cx500 may have trouble considering the 7970 has a TDP of 250w and the gtx660 is only 140w.

Corsair 250d - - Delidded i7 4770k @ 4.4GHz (1.15v) - - Asus Maximus VI Impact - - Corsair h100i

Asus DirectCU II OC GTX780 - - NZXT x41 & G10 w/ Push/Pull Noctua IndustrialPPC's - - Corsair ax760i

16GB Corsair Vengeance 2133Mhz  - - Samsung 840 pro (boot) - - Samsung Evo (gaming) - - WD green HDD (data)

Should be fine, if you have a good GPU it will work good, if you want extreme settings then you need the best hardware you can afford.

The power usuage of the FX6300 is only 95w vs 125w of the higher end cpu's so if you want an efficient cpu stick with the 6300

got to love Asus components
