Best hybrid study/gaming laptop on the market?

I am considering a laptop that will provide long lasting battery with the ability to perform well in mid-range games, I want to play Rainbow Six Siege, Payday 2, Warframe, Insurgency and CS:GO at 1080p.

What would be the best laptop?

I considered this laptop due to the design and weight but in the reviews, there were a few negative ones regarding the TN screen.

This is a Clevo W650RC. Great laptop. 5.5 hour battery run time. Upgrade the CPU to a i5-6300HQ with a GTX 950m.

I would highly advise you to pick up the storage and ram and os by yourself if you can. If not it's perfectly fine to just buy it off the configurator.

As configured it comes with a Win10 licenses so if you already have one you can save like 70 quid.

I'm assuming your budget is around the 600-700 pounds mark.

The Dell XPS 15 is almost double the price, I would prefer to spend that money on desktop upgrades. I'm in the market for a laptop without breaking the bank, I suspect that there will be a few more clearance sales on GTX 900m series equipped laptops with the news on the Pascal mobility line-up.

Everything is quite overpriced in the UK and EU man. For about 600 quid you're gonna get a 950m.

Decent value for the specs, mate, cheers. Display is an important factor for me as when I am at home, I use a Dell S2716DG for fast paced games and an OLED for casual gaming, is the Cosmos series a decent display for the money? I bought a cheap Lenovo Ideapad 100 on sale, it runs RTS and MOBA games but the TN colour shift and the 768p can be difficult on the eyes.

That is true, I was considering waiting for Pascal but I couldn't justify spending £1300-1500 just to enjoy on the go when the desktop equivalent can be bought for a couple of hundred pounds.

The screen is as advertised. 1080p IPS. Is pretty good with around 300 nits brightness overall. Decent colors and everything. Honestly the worst thing about this notebook is the case. Build quality is just plastic, but you make sacrifices at this price point. What's your budget? There are some nicer things you can get if your willing to go refurb/secondhand

Just checking out eBay, there are a few good deals and a ton of cheaper gaming laptops.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PC-Specialist-Optimus-VII-N150RD-Intel-i7-6700HQ-15-6-Gaming-Laptop-8GB-1TB-/252395656683?hash=item3ac3f415eb:g:s0UAAOSwdWBXPdqb

Good specs for the money and I could upgrade it to an SSD, the youtube review states that it has great colour reproduction and deep blacks.

That is a great laptop btw, nice find. I'd just do checking into the seller and sell into the product. Not familiar with UK. But if that's actually new at that spec, pretty good find m8.

I would recommend the Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 ($899).  I've been using it for a month, and it is very solid for both gaming and schoolwork.  It has an Intel Core i7 and a GTX 960m, and 8gb of RAM.  Only issue with it is that it does not have that many USB ports, other than that, it is a solid laptop.

I received the Optimus VII this morning and the display shocked me by the colour reproduction and the deep blacks on the display.

It far surpasses any TN panel I have seen, the viewing angles are excellent. Great specification for the price, I highly recommend PC Specialist for anyone that is looking for a good laptop at a competitive price.

Nice find man. Hope your happy with the laptop. Did you get it off ebay or PC specialist in the end?

Thanks, I bought the laptop on eBay. The laptop is working great so far and it can even play The Witcher 3 at 1080p with the settings at medium.

The most impressive feature for me is the display, the colour reproduction and the black levels really impress on this laptop. When I play older games, they look sharper than on my Dell S2716DG 27" monitor but that could be due to the larger scree size or the 109 PPI on the Dell Monitor.
