cheap and quiet cooling for fx8350

a friend needs a cooler upgrade for his fx8350 (he's using the stock one) and he came up with an arctic-cooling freezer xtreme rev 2.0 for 30€. good investment or are there better solutions? (Germany)

Try for a Hyper 212 or be quiet! Pure Rock. I tend to associate Arctic with cheaper products, so imo I'd avoid them for > $400 builds.

funny -.- 30€ vs around 500€... find the mistake. He's aware that this chip isn't the best anymore, but just to get this thing more silent does not mean to upgrade the whole pc.

it is not a new build we are planning here.

and tbh: the fx isn't that bad that it needs to be replaced, it is paired with a 680 so ...

A Hyper 212 would certainly be a more conservative approach, though.

it's a matter of money I'd say. And a new plattform costs around 500€..... This is a thing that will probably happen at some point of time and not now. We are not in a world were you can pick money from trees like apples and cherrys. and why replace some thing that gets to job done when it is good enough for the one who uses it. No one forces you to use an 8350.

I mean a cpu motherboard an ram upgrade is not going to cost 500€, idk what you are on.

somewhat decent Z170 Mobo: 150€

RAM: 50€

Cooler: to get sth appropriate: 50€

I don't know if you can calculate, but this is a sum of around 500€ +/- 50 bucks.

and this is way more than a simple cooler upgrade from stock amd to entry level 30€ cooler to get it more "silent"

did you read the country? and did you see currency? Even your most basic config is almost 450€. And even parts I'd not take. It's more than ten times you'd have to spend, with not that much I or he would get back.

i mean you said  €500 and that build is  € 416 so you just proved yourself wrong.
