Hey guys, I'm looking for a new laptop with the specs that are required by my school, is this a decent laptop or is there anything better around this price.
The specs that were given to me were:

- i5 (preferably i7)
- At least 8GB of RAM
- Dedicated graphics
- At least 3 USB ports
- 15' or bigger screen

I chose the Asus ROG GL752VW-T4231T, It looked good has an SSD and HDD, gtx 960m and a 17' screen (I like the bigger screen).

But if any of you know of something better let me know!
(I'm located in the Netherlands so that might be a limiting factor in product availability)

There's something better than that out there...for a price. what are you willing to spend? The only thing I can see that would be better is perhaps some more USB ports, and a better dgpu

Shipping sucks

I'm looking for something around €1000 but I'm already stretching with this one, it's €1200

This is definitely a good laptop though, it's not like you're losing out don't get me wrong. 960m leaves alot to be desired for, but hey. This is supposed to be laptop for school xD

I personally am going to have to try and play on a surface pro 2 :(

screen is so small and apu is so bad...

Well, I personally would like a cheap and small laptop that you can throw around, but I need to render stuff in my course, haven't got a clue how heavy it will be but it's for molecular science and thereabouts.

Id suggest that you stay away from 17in laptops for school as there huge and heavy and can't fit in most backpacks. Id get a dell 7559 or smaller. If you already have a desktop, something small and durable, like a dell e5470 or a t460 is a good buy.

The Y50's hinges were overly tight from the factory which caused the plastic to break but the Y700 has no such issues. It was fixable by loosening it manually. (what I did myself)

you should link a few stores (online obviously) that you can purchase it from and everyone can browse through and help you get something good. Mostly because prices are stupid and change worldwide. For example, you should almost never get a 7559 in Europe because of the ridiculous premium makes it equal in price to a Y700.

@Roan_Smeets Can you wait a week or two? Because mobile pascal is out then and that means better performance and cheaper maxwell laptops..

Also the Y700 does not have a hinge problem and let me put it this way for every broken Lenovo Y50. Y700 (just lenovo gaming laptops) I see 5-7 Asus gaming laptops. Also Clevo rebranded laptops are generally pretty nice and easy to fix. In EU we have XMG.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Yea pick up the Y700 for a 1000 euros. But like @Dackzy mentioned Pascal is releasing August 16th so you might want to wait a bit. One thing you have to keep in mention is that the August 16th release is for the 1060, 1070, 1080 and 1080 SLI laptops and not yet for the mainstream 1050ti versions. So if you want to wait for mobile mainstream pascal you might have to wait quite a bit longer as they haven't even released the 1050(ti) as of yet.

I need to have it by September 5th so that's going to be close, I'd like all the retailers to have them in stock immediately so the prices drop, but most of the times that's not the case.

By Sept 5th...including shipping and processing times, ugh. I really don't want to recommend you a laptop that's gonna be obsolete literally in the upcoming months but I dont think mainstream Pascal is going to be released quite soon. I would wait and see till August 20th because I think that's when Clevo and it's retailers are announcing there's and see how the prices are and then decide from there.

Regardless if you can pick up Pascal, the Y700 is still good enough for your needs I think. Your school has quite high demanding specs I would say.

I'll wait at least for the 20th, luckily shipping doesn't take long here, some even offer same day delivery if you order early (at cost though).
