You don't need one but it's nice time it takes to load up the Os is much lower compared to hdd

Copy all of your folders to the secondary hard drive.

Right click the folders that are still in your main drive and select properties

Find the location tab and select the same folder in your secondary drive.

Set the location and move all files. Say yes to move files and replace them if you wish.

 

Be very careful while doing the move.

2.Will there be any difference in download speeds? Downloads will likely not benefit but installs to the SSD will be faster.

3.Could I buy a ssd later? Yes, you can. BUT... You will have to create an image of the OS to clone to the SSD which may require you to change volume size.

 

I would say an SSD is a great way to increase the speed of programs, boot time, and responsiveness so that the processor doesn't need to wait for data.
