Final Check of my first PC build

I thought I'd list the parts I plan on using for my first PC build, just so that I can maybe have someone point out any major flaws.

  • CPU: AMD FX-8350
  • MB: Gigabyte GA-990FX Gaming
  • GPU: Radeon RX 480 8GB
  • RAM: Corsair Vengence LP Red DDR3L PC12900/1600MHx CL9 2x8GB
  • Storage: 2x Intenso 2.5" SSD SATA III 256GB
  • PSU: Inter-Tech ENERGON EPS-650W CM-650W
  • Case: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-ALPHA

I went with AMD since I don't plan on overclocking, and I'm on a low budget (€1100, but I live in Sweden, so everything costs 1,5 - 2,5 times as much as in the US). I also can't decide what RX 480 card I'm gonna go with just yet since the prices are still way too high here for it to be worth getting. On top of that, I plan on setting up the two SSDs in Raid 0 to maximise the performance of the SSDs, increasing boot-up times and loading speeds in games. This raid will be solely for programs and other things that I can reinstall, I will run a separate HDD to store photos, films, documents and other irreplaceable data.

Point out anything that won't work or any mistakes (regarding incompatibility between parts, I don't care what you think about AMD).

Then it'd be out of budget.

First of all, I think you want regular DDR3 RAM, not DDR3L

But, personally, I think you are going about this all wrong. Here's my advice:

Start with an Intel i5-6500 and a basic B150, H110, or H170 motherboard that has the ports and features you need for the lowest price.

In order to do that within your budget, start with just 8Gigs (2x4Gig) of DDR4 RAM

Get a single 250 or 500 Gig SSD - there's no sense going for RAID0 on the storage while gimping the system with a 8350, plus, except for benchmarks, you won't "see" the difference.

Get a basic 80+ bronze 500 watt power supply - I'm not too confident in In-tech.

If necessary, for budget, get an RX 470 instead of the 480 - particularly if you are only using a single 1920x1080 monitor.

Get a cheaper case if necessary for budget.

In other words, start with a good CPU and GPU, and then make the rest fit your budget. You can always get a nicer case and add extra SSDs, etc, later.

The FX-8350 would be OK if you were really on a budget and could only afford 4Gigs of RAM, an RX 460, and a single HDD, but in this instance, you're putting your budget into the wrong things.

P.S. If you really want to go AMD on the CPU, wait for Zen.

P.P.S. In case you are one of those Intel/nVidia vs AMD/AMD people, there is absolutely no problem with getting an AMD graphics card with an Intel CPU.

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.

i5-6600, 16Gigs, ITX Corsair 250D, R9 390, 120Gig M.2 boot, 500Gig SATA SSD, no HDD

Thanks so much! I'll look into it and see what I can do. Also, I tried to make a well-performing machine that looked good too, for a relatively low cost. I was recommended the CPU by a friend

@Sevarsuab This setup should be a nice starting point. You can always replace parts along the way.

Prices and parts put together on https://www.netonnet.se/ in SEK. 10000 Krones is about 1050 euros, give or take?

I didn't expect this when I made this thread, but that looks great! I really appreciate your help, thank you so much!

Though, when I made my build I included a pair of extra 120mm fans and an OS to add up to the price. But it still, doesn't break my budget :)

lol :) As a Dutch person, I can read and somewhat understand Swedish. The hardest part was finding a Swedish retailer. :P
