No way do I prefer a Macbook over Windows. If you want to pay far too much for far too little performance (excluding battery life) just so you can use MacOS than that's cool, but I'll just be sitting here my free Sierra VM.

Surface Pro/Books are really just glorified tablets, IMHO.

That's legit my biggest problem with Macbooks, the price and performance. I'd buy a Surface device if I had the money because of its portability.

Stay tuned. I'm gonna finish up an article on LTT on what I found out about people's choice of Mobile OS (like Android, IOS or Windows Phones).

Using your logic and idea, what you're saying is just like saying "Humans are just glorified gorillas".

Well actually, humans would be glorified chimpanzees or similar, but I'm not sure what's the problem there. The Surface series evolved from tablets, and humans evolved from some sort of chimpanzee-like ape.

I will most likely not respond to you in a thread unless you quote me.

The Surface Pro (and non Pro) series are PCs in a tablet form factor which can also be used as a laptop.

The Surface Book is the exact opposite. It's a PC in laptop form factor which can also be used as a tablet.

Win7 & Win10

Because of familiarity mostly.

I have tried out others but they just don't jive for me.

i'll share an experience here:

my daily commute to and from work is at least an hour worth of public transport, and i currently use my phone and its mobile data to browse the forum during my commute.

if that rumor of the macbook with mobile data ends up being true, i'd consider one of those for the following reasons:

- it'd literally be a "facebook machine" for me

- macbooks are thin, light, and have honestly pretty nice battery life

- the aluminium body is less likely to crack like the plastic body on my samsung laptop is doing now

- it has a bigger display and better keyboard than my phone

- at some point the convenience becomes worth the price premium, seeing people gladly spend $700 on a smartphone i dont understand why people make a problem out the pricing of a macbook...

I honestly need to give Linux a go, they say it's so good but I have to see for myself.

It has it place, but then again so does each OS its own right.

Linux doesn't work for me, it more for those that that are...well best way I can describe it is, Linux is a programmers OS.

to be honest there's very little internal difference between a tablet and a laptop, especially now there's the whole convertible mess.

i'd put the split here:

laptop runs a fully featured desktop operating system

tablet runs a dumbed down OS for lower resource usage and/or smoother touch screen usage

I am sure that if someone is able to help they will reply to your post. Most people in the US/Canada are just getting up. Its Sunday here.

No need to rush things. If your issue is urgent you should put *urgent* in the title.

My 2 cents.

Windows 8.1 because:

- Compatibility - everything works.

- Games - all work

- With Classic Shell it looks better and is more user-friendly than 7 IMO.

- Couldn't be bothered to upgrade to Windows 10.

In context of how Microsoft describes the situation, would you prefer the Surface Pro (80/20) or the Surface Book (80/20)?

I think both can be used as primarily a laptop. I know a classmate who uses it as primarily a laptop.

The issue is that Surface Pro 4 is cannibalizing Surface Book sales because of the cost of the Surface Book.

If Surface Book was cheaper than I would have bought a Surface Book.

I love both the Pro 4 and the Book. They are not for totally different people imho.
