So I want to start a website/forum, I guess some could call it similar to this website but not really. I want it to be a website where we review video games with no biased opinions but just pure facts ( which is hard to come by these days ). I don't know much about website programming or anything along those lines and I'm currently in IT school obtaining certifications that would help me enter of course the IT field. I plan on living alone and possibly getting some partners on this project once I get in a position of my life where I am safe to really invest in this company. I also want this website to be a tech forum also and by that I mean all TECH. I want users to be able to help each other out and also be able to create gaming content and upload it to there channels. I do not really want to have to use another platforms uploader such as Youtube but I figured if I made created some type of partnership for members of the website and they uploaded videos under are network to youtube to use on this site then the company could take like an extremely low cut of profit from the content that the user creates. I want to be able to host a livestream on this website also sort of like what Tek Syndicate has but I don't want it to be one of things on twitch when random people come in and just troll I want it to be on this website exclusively which I don/t know if that is a smart idea really. I have a lot of ideas I'm willing to share with the users of this site but I just need to know if this could be like something big if I give it the care that it needs and take it very seriously. Do I have to create the custom uploader to my site or do some website such as Moonfruit.com come with things like that ? Is it okay to use website builders such as Moonfruit.com ? Or will my site seem to be less than the other sites ?

Ok.. Let me just address some things I have opinions on:

"I want it to be a website where we review video games with no biased opinions but just pure facts ( which is hard to come by these days )."

This is pretty hard. Reviews of course can implement hard facts, e.g. a Pokémon review stating "you can get a certificate once you have completed the PokéDex", but this means nothing if the reviewer cannot say "to me this felt very rewarding" or "completing the PokéDex for me was a complete drag and not worth it". You have to have opinions in a review. You cannot just say "in Black Ops 3 you can jump multiple times, run on walls and swim underwater. All levels include these things." You have to share your opinion with it too, like saying "I liked the movement abilities like the boost jumping, running on walls and swimming underwater. These were well implemented into the maps and made the game faster".

Anyways, enough about that.

"I also want this website to be a tech forum also and by that I mean all TECH."

Hmm, that's possible... But most forums include at least a section where you can talk non-[insert the website's topic]. This forum for example is also a tech forum, but has an Off topic section for non tech discussion. All forums I have been have a section for discussion about something other than the forum's main focus.

"I want users to be able to help each other out and also be able to create gaming content and upload it to there channels."

You could create a sub forum where people can ask for help (or offer help). I sometimes go to the DeviantArt forum and they have a 'Projects' forum, where people can ask for help, offer help, etc. for Projects. Whether these projects mean collaborations or simply just some small help on something.

"I do not really want to have to use another platforms uploader such as Youtube but I figured if I made created some type of partnership for members of the website and they uploaded videos under are network to youtube to use on this site then the company could take like an extremely low cut of profit from the content that the user creates."

So you want to start some kind of MCN (multi channel network, that has many channels under its 'belt' which get paid by the MCN, which gets the money from YouTube. In return these channel under the MCN's belt get help with stuff like copyright stuff and other issues/collabs) that, for a cut of the money like any MCN, will provide access to the forum platform (and its help). Sounds interesting.. I recommend you work out this one a bit more, sounds like a good idea.

As for using your own uploader.. You will need a lot of bandwidth and storage space.

So you want livestreams on your website too, but not on Twitch because trolls. Okay.. Trolls are a by-product of popularity. You really can't have an audience if you don't want trolls.

And about the website creator, you could use one (like PHPBB, IPB, or whatever) and just tweak it (a lot). It can still stand out.

I really appreciate you're feedback but do you Happen to know if this website was built using a company such as squarespace or did they code it themselves?

By this website you mean LinusTechTips.com? The forum boards are Invision Power Board, with quite a few modifications thanks to @Windspeed36, @colonel_mortis, @Cat :^) and the wonderful team of moderators. IPB has actually turned their flagship forum board software into a social media platform of sorts, which is probably what the entire site is powered off of.

It is most definitely not a drag and drop static site builder like Squarespace or Wix, both of which are great for basic sites or portfolios, but are not designed to be scalable community websites. For that, you need a dedicated server (or at least some decent Shared Hosting to start), and either something like IPB or Wordpress with bbPress / BuddyPress installed. Drupal is another common framework and CMS widely used for custom websites, but a lot of code and time goes into these kinds of things.

Desktop: KiRaShi-Intel-2022 (i5-12600K, 5060 Ti) Mobile: Moto Razr 50 Ultra (Razr+ 2024) | 30GB CAN+US+MEX $30/month
Laptop: Lenovo Yoga 7i (16") 82UF0015US (i7-12700H, 16GB/2TB RAM/SSD, A370M GPU) Tablet: Lenovo Tab Plus (256GB)
Camera: Canon M6 Mark II | Canon Rebel T1i (500D) | Canon SX280 Music: Spotify Premium (CIRCA '08)

Don't credit me for the development on this one - @colonel_mortis @Cat :^) were the two behind the theme and website development. I only deal with administration and staff issues now.

The basis of this site is IPB (version 4 now), but the developers (mentioned earlier, colonel_mortis and Cat mainly) have made a LOT of changes to how it all looks here and different features (like the agree, informative, etc. ratings and much much more).

If I remember correctly Squarespace does not have a forum plugin or whatever, so that probably wouldn't work the best for this kind of site. IPB however is really meant for forums. There are more forum software such as phpBB too.

I believe it is a major staff issue that Linus has not yet been on a date with me.

Linus is my fetish.

Look proggraming websites is not that difficult. Don't worry if you don't the budget to pay for sqarespace you can easily read some books online(there are many) and start practicing.
