Ethernet port is the connector where you put the network cable which connects your computer to the router or switch to give you internet.

10 , 100 and 1000 are the maximum transfer speeds, 10 megabits, 100 megabits or 1000 megabits. You divide those numbers by 8 and you get the maximum speed your network card can achieve in either direction (download or upload) in MB/s

10/100 means the network card can achieve a maximum speed of 100 mbps but it can also communicate with older network cards or devices that only know of 10 mbps speeds. Think of it like the 10/100 mbps card knowing English and French, while a 10 mbps network card or device can only talk French.

Just the same, a 10/100/1000 network card is designed for 1000 mbps but can recognize cards using the older 10/100 standard and talk to them.

The 10/100/1000 is the most universal and the highest speed one, it's preferrable to buy a motherboard using a network card with 1000 mbps speed.

That's the speed it can handle.

You have 10mbps, 100mbps and 1000mbps.

1000mbps is also 1gbps. That's the same.

The real speed also depends on the other side of the connection and the cable.

If your pc has a 1000mbps capable ethernet port and you connect it to a 100mbps capable port, it will automaticly run at 100mbps.

Umm it depends, if you are happy with just 1 hdd and 11MB/s speeds than that's fine.

If you are planning to move big files around it's probbaly easier to use an external drive.

Not really, depends on your needs. You would also have low r/w speeds or processor power. So, if you just want to keep music or drop off documents, then your fine. If you wanted a system back up or plex server or storing your movie collection, then you might get frustrated at the speeds.
