GPU & CPU Balance?

So I'm working on my first build and I want to apologize right now for any display of stupidity, I'm doing my best. I recently bought a case, a 650 watt power supply, and a hard drive just to get basic components out of the way. What I'm looking at now and haven't yet made a decision on are the other primary components, namely the gpu and cpu. I want to prepare for future upgrades as much as possible, so I first thought a higher end graphics card, and a mid range cpu.

 

Im looking at the AMD FX-6350, and pairing that with Asus' GTX 670.

Is this too unbalanced in terms of computing power. Withing the year I will be able to upgrade (the CPU), so I won't have to ride out the potential bottleneck very long, but if this is a bad setup, what are some other options. I was considering the 660 or the 660ti with the AMD FX-8350? Just keeping ideas open, I'd love some help.Thanks.

6350 is pointless its just a slightly higher clocked 6300.

Get a FX-6300 OC to 4.2ghz and it should be perfectly balanced.

What about the rest of your parts? Plan everything together and not separately.

and saves you  $55 overall, the graphics is equal in performance when clocked the same, that said it should do even better overclocked and if you use msaa you could benefit from the extra memory bandwidth.

also your better off getting a better graphics card and lesser cpu than the other way round (so going 8350 and 660/ti would be a bad idea)
bf4 is pretty damangding so going for more cores is better, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A GOOD 8+2 POWER PHASE BOARD, and possbily the option for crossfire because you could always throw another 7950 in the for sweet f*** all

Try to get a FX-6300 or a 8320 and a 7970. That will be better.

I have every thing planned out. 8gbs Ram, AsRock 990fx motherboard. And then I'm still deciding the CPU and GPU obviously. between those two though I'm looking at about a $440 budget, can't go any higher.

Mobo: ASRock 990FX Extreme 3. Has SLI abilities and OC looks easy with this board, room for fun expansion.

GPU: Asus GTX 670. Pretty powerful, SLI, future proofed. I also have a strange bias for nvidia, yet i buy AMD cpu's ya I'm weird.

CPU: AMD FX-6300. Nothing Special, easily replaceable. Packs a pretty punch when OC'd it looks like.

I've permanently picked out everything else already. This leaves me $20 to spare. Any recommendations, I like it. leaves room for expansion and isn't outrageously expensive.

get the 8320  and spend the extra IF you have to, like linus says "the best thing to do every time is to buy a balanced configuration with parts that are appropriate for each other, versus trying to squeeze into a budget in order to intend to upgrade it later and BLEUUGHH not good" (im scared i skipped to that exact part in 1 click..)

and a 7950 is only 7% slower than a 7970, if it costs 5% more for a 7970, get the 7970 if the 7970 costs over 7% more then get the 7950. its that simple.

I haven't bought any thing on that list. Although I bought a power  supply, hard drive, and case. This leaves me with about $625 or so left. Feel free to help out.

I've only got a definite wait of 2 months, so I don't really want to waste an extra $40 just to scramble to resell the CPU at half price later when I upgrade. Thanks for the input man. (I'd be upgrading to the 8350 by the way, so definitely worth the wait).

why would you buy a 670 at this point, best combo especially with next gen consoles and mantle specualtion, is an fx 8320 paired with a 7950, no need to get a 8350 unless theyre really close in price.

I agree it is, but the 8320 will be better value for money in this case on a $/thread basis.

most games only use 4 cores is the general consensus, intels hyperthreaded cores often go unused but because of way amds scheduler works it tends to spread heavily threaded applications very well so that it goes across all cores.

say you had your fx6 at 4ghz in bf3 with a load of 80% across all cores.

the fx8 at the same speed with have a load of 53.3% across all cores (if my math is correct, give or take)

also it gives the flexability to assign a module/2 threads to do something else while retaining the ability to carry on without a performance hit

considering the 33% boost i'd say it was worth the 14% more cash..

i think ive missed something, i said get an 8 core-youre getting the 8 core, that said your wasting money anyways getting the 8350. unless your hoping to hit 5ghz for some unknown reason.

fx8320 and a 7950 is the most often reccomended configuration your likely to come across because its the best amd has to offer (excluding the 290/x) for the lowest cash.
