R9 280 non X high temps

C3S4R

Hello everyone, I need some help or advices and some missing info.

I have this Sapphire R9 280 dual X oc 3GB bla bla bla. this card have like 1 year of gaming use, i overclocked this card to 1055 on the core and 1400 on the memory, i have a 3 display setup but only game on 1 of the screens, in some games, mostly the ones based on unreal engine 3/4 with max settings (just for testing) benchmarked with the previous mentioned overclock and fan speed at 100% like 101ºc on the gpu just running the games for 4~7 minutes, no thermal throttling at all, but i know that temps are not good. in some other games like gta v, battlefront and so on 72 to 86 ºc. So i wanna know the max temp that the 280 chip can handle before its going to burn itself.

Just additional info, i'm living in central america where normal days can go over 32 ºc, my pc is an old case without the frames and like a lot of fans on it.

Okay, I had exactly the same card OC'd with higher clocks and your temps look high.

I think you have an issue with your case air flow and ambient temps seem pretty high.

You can try applying new thermal paste, but it will probably lower your temp by only 2-5 degrees, if you're lucky.

Try opening the side of the PC case and see if your temps improve. If it does, then you need better airflow.
