Ideal CPU for gtx 1070?

What is the ideal cpu for the gtx 1070? I currently have an i5 4460, and I know I need to upgrade it if I'm gonna get a gtx 1070. What is the best option that isn't that expensive?

There were some reports that i5 CPUs will bottleneck GTX 1070.

So I would say i7 4770(K) i7 4790(K) i7 6700(K) would be your best bet.

i5 4690k or 6600k could work, but you would need to OC it for some games.

Samsung EVO 960 M.2 250GB | Samsung EVO 860 PRO 512GB | 4x Be Quiet! Silent Wings 140mm fans

The Xeon i said is faster and cheaper, why do people keep suggesting the i5 4690/k if the Xeon is better?

Depends on your monitor.

Regardless, I strongly advise you to NOT upgrade. Not yet, anyways. Hold out for Zen / Kaby.

From where you are, a 4690K, 4770K, 4790K (or any of their non-K equivalents) or an E3 1231v3 would make sense.

If you're wanting to do a full system upgrade with a Skylake CPU, new motherboard and new RAM, the 6600K, 6700 or 6700K are the only CPUs I'd consider. Unless you want Broadwell-E for some wacky reason. You don't want Broadwell-E.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.

I had some bottlenecks with my 4690k on my 1070, but that is only if your running a higher than 60hz refresh rate. If your only running at 60hz, then a 4690k or 6600k is ideal. if not, you will want something with more horsepower like a good Xeon or a 4790k/6700k.

i5 6600K would probably be fine. I don't think you'd need extreme overclocking besides to maybe 4.5GHz or 4.6GHz which doesn't sound like it's demanding too much from the i5.

I had considered pairing an i5 6600K and GTX 1070 prior to deciding I wanted to save some money and also kinda wanted AMD. So I'm planning on going with a 6600K and RX 480.

I'm trying to think how can the Xeon one be cheaper than the Core i7 6700K from Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117559

Just wondering!?!?!

Edit: Oh, you are living in Australia, nvm then.
