Gtx 980 lawsuit (NOT 970)

0ld_Chicken

I just got an email from Newegg about a gtx 980 lawsuit pending further details. I've heard of the 970 suit but nothing on the 980. I saw a Reddit page but nothing else on this so wondering if anyone knows anything.

If I could return my 980 for full price at this point, that'd be fantastic but I'd feel bad honestly. Seeing as how there is nothing wrong with it

edit: I linked A nvidiasettlement.pdf from newegg's blog below.  There is no mention of gtx 980 or gtx 960 anywhere in the document.  There could be more to it but I'd be surprised if anything came of it.

What's that BS.... I bet it was a screw up on Newegg's part.

You also might want to finish cutting off that address at the bottom if it's yours... some people might actually be able to make out what that address is... Be more careful Phil :)

Nope, just that they'd send another email with details and instructions if I want to get in on it. I'll update this thread with anything new

It's gotta be a typo on NewEgg's part.  The class action suit against NVIDIA was on the 970 about the 3.5 / 4GB vram issue.

That's what I thought too, but I've never bought a gtx970. I have bought a 980 from Newegg so they wouldve had to make a typo in the title AND body of the message as well as send it to a bunch of people that didn't buy 970's. I saw some people on reddit that got the same email, all 980 owners

I just double posted this topic. It seems the classaction encompasses many 9 series, as well as some AMD cards even. It is over a matter of 512MB of VRAM.

Hmm I'll have to look into that when I get home from work, I didn't see much besides 970 stuff early this morning

The only notice I've seen in the news feeds, is that NVIDIA settled the class action lawsuit for the 970s about the 3.5 / 4gb vram issue.  The first time I heard ANYTHING about 980s, or any other card, other than the 970, was from Newegg.

Sorry...but Newegg isn't a "trusted source" for news and information.  lol

I found a PDF that came from newegg's blog that outlines the lawsuit.  It doesn't mention gtx 980 or gtx 960 once so I'd be surprised if anything actually came of this.  Someone probably jumped the gun/dun goofed up :$

Honestly even if they did allow it I probably wouldn't try to get in on the 60$ (I have 2) because I paid a fair price for a product that works as advertised.   That and I hate dealing with legal stuff
