I need a good, cheap powersupply

Go to solution Solved by HKZeroFive,

Trying to reduce the cost of the PC build through the power supply is a bad idea, considering it's the part that will be powering your build. If I were you, I'd be looking at getting a cheaper motherboard. A $60 power supply unit such as the Corsair CX550M should be a minimum since you can afford a i7 6700K with a R9 390X.

You could get the GTX 980Ti for the same price as the R9 390X by the way. Not worth it for $400. I'd also consider getting the ADATA SP550 over the BX200.

Short sweet and to the point: I've made a computer build but ,after replacing some parts, I have found myself over-budget. Thus, I've decided to try to scrape some money back by getting a cheaper version of what I thought best: the power supply. I need something in the ~$40 range, yet I don't want it to be a piece of junk that is useless after the first couple months- I need this thing to last.

If such a power supply exists, here is the part picker list of the components it would need to power: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/xJ8HBP (~500W)

As always, thanks for any help xD

"Help guys I spend all my money on components I can't afford and now need a power supply for a cheap system that produces way less heat."

If you have 40 dollars for a PSU and can afford an i7 and one of the best GPUs out there then you're managing your budget wrong.
