Whats wrong with going for AMD as a starting point for a PC build? I have been using a FX6350 for a few years, and it is capable of all games i have tried. It even took Cities Skylines quite well. It would be perfect for a first build because it is cheap, and performs quite well.

please for the love of god tell me you're not buying those parts new.

on topic: PCPartPicker's wattage calculator seems to be exceptionally accurate, as well as giving you a good place to search for good psus.

i generally just sort by price, select minimum wattage, and go for the first out of these:

corsair RMx, RMi, HX, HXi, AX, AXi

evga G2, P2, GS, PS, B2

anything seasonic.

i wanted the cpu i was gonna use cause the benchmarks look really good

i wouldnt call that very good, compared to a chip of half the tdp.. (keep in mind thats not only energy usage from the wall, but also the need for a better cooler, better power supply, and better motherboard)

it's not that they're bad, it's that they're just not the right thing to buy anymore.

Don't let GDRRiley tell you what to do! AMD cpus perform well and are cheap. Their price to performance beats Intel almost every time.

until you calculate in the requirement of a better cooler, and especially for the 8-cores a beefy motherboard.
