MoBo for Intel Pentium Dual Core

Hi All,

My friend's motherboard recently conked off and is searching for a new one.

Could you please suggest a budget motherboard for Intel Pentium Dual Core ?

Should support medium games (FIFA 11, NFS, etc.).

Budget around INR 3.5k to 4k.

Thanks in advance,

Joel.

A few questions:

1. What size MoBo, Micro ATX, ATX, etc...

3. Is the Pentium the LGA 775 socket?

My blind recommendation without knowing the answers is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157338

However, verify that this board will fit the case and has all the correct spots to plug in your hardware. This board doesn't have any PCI express ports, so mind that, and only 2 SATA ports, this is sort of a legacy board due to the outdated CPU. It even has a floppy connector and 2 ATA ports. All in all i'd recommend getting a different processor, and a better board than this, but I understand tight budgets and no need to upgrade, good luck with this repair job.

Yeah if you included the specs of the previous board it would be alot easier for people to narrow it down. Personally for lower end CPU's I would just get the cheapest board that supports your case and cpu socket. Extra Fans ports, sata ports, usb 3,0 is more of a luxury for me personally but it could be an area for you to look into while shopping. Best of luck!

Perfect, I googled the Pentium dual-core and found that its *probably* a LGA 775, and the only board Newegg is selling in that socket size is a Micro ATX.

Hey, sorry it took so long for me to check back on this, that motherboard you bought seems to only support DDR2 RAM. Right now, how many sticks of what make and model RAM does he have? DDR2 800/667 non-ECC, un-buffered memory.
