What do you do while listening to music?

Chaos_Sorcerer

When I have the time, I like to sit down or lie down somewhere comfortable, put on my headphones, close my eyes, and just appreciate the music. But this is rarely the case, since I usually don't have the time to do this, and I can't get the sound quality I can on my desktop on something like a phone, so I try to avoid music on mobile devices. Usually, I put music on when I'm doing something that doesn't require much concentration, like cleaning out my room or something. Or while doing school work. Unlike a lot of people who get off task by the type of music they have on, I tend to get off task depending on the subject. Like, when I'm working on a presentation after doing all of the research beforehand, I can put on whatever kind of music I want, and I can still concentrate. But when I'm trying to read or do math, I can't concentrate with any music in the background.

What do you guys do while listening to music? Also, what song do you have on at the moment?

You're a Muse fan too?! That's awesome! I love all of the songs in The Resistance, but my absolute favourite has to be Starlight. Is Psycho your favourite Muse song?

I find that I get distracted if I have music on while reading online articles that require lots of thinking (e.g., an article on a new scientific discovery or something). Video games? I usually play Overwatch, and I sometimes have music when I'm playing casually, but in Competitive Mode I tend to have it off.

Awesome song choice, by the way.

Yeah, if I'm doing anything that requires thought, like work, but music helps enormously for writing recreationally.

I used to listen to music while writing essays and stuff, but now I can't focus when listening to music. Nowadays, I listen when I'm gaming or 3D  modeling.

No I would say my favorite song is Dead Inside. I just really like Drones(Album). Sometimes I listen to it all the way through without doing anything else. Its like it tells a story from beginning to end. Do you like Drones(Album)?

Yes!!! Dead Inside!!! Not sure about the album. I only discovered Muse a few months back (although I am a big fan), and I haven't listened to all of the songs in Drones

Oh holy shit it varies. I can be video editing, playing TF2, or even on a forum listening to what I do.

I can say a ton of artists I listen to. Public Enemy, Brand Nubian, A Tribe Called Quest, LL Cool J, EPMD, Digable Planets, the list goes on.

As of what I'm listening to right now, It's Good to Be Here by Digable Planets.

Jogging.

I am not a multitask person.

I can't read/code/eat/study when I am listening to music.

I listen to music when I go out for a jog/exercise.

Simple as that.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

You listen to music while video editing? But how do you expect to get an accurate representation of the audio in your video, though?

well I don't really do much of anything in video editing

when I actually do some decent editing, however, I don't listen to music

I pretty much do everything to music. The only times I don't listen to music is when I'm at work or at school.

There are speakers on ever floor of my house, and I can easily stream music around the house.

When I want to relax I usually put on a record and them I lay back and just listens to the music.

How good is everyone's audio setup? Mine is pretty basic...just the sound directly from my mobo and my HD 598s. Might get an external DAC soon. Currently using Spotify for pretty much all of my music. Might also invest in a Blu-Ray drive to start getting into CDs and other disk media.

How many of you have sound cards? Dedicated amps? Record players? How good are your headphones?

95% of the time when I'm listening to music, I'm sitting at my cube at work. I have a job where my [internal] customers communicate with me [the department] via email.  I've got my DT770s on most of the day.

If I'm at home with music on, it's generally while I sit on my chair in the living room in front of my huge TV and home theater setup.  My computer is plugged into it.  I'm usually just wasting a few minutes while I find something else to do.

I'm very happy with mine.  My computer is connected to my Sony theater receiver. B&W left, center, and right front speakers.  Infinity surrounds.  Paradigm PDR12 subwoofer.  I don't use headphones at home because.. well, my speakers are better than most headphones.  Other than that, no other components.  No CD player, tape deck, or turn table. Just a bunch of consoles.  I do have a CD collection that also has its own collection.... of dust.  Except for my Nine Inch Nails discography. :) I recently re-bought all of the Halos new-in-package.  They're so purrrdy.

I listen to music while casually doing things on my computer, like looking on this forum and coding. I don't listen to music during games because I get distracted fairly easily.

Currently listening to Monstercat and EDEN's music.

Coding? On which platform do you code? Do you code professionally? I recently got into coding on Codecademy...I find that I can't pay attention to the instructions when I have music on.
