I purchased my first smartphone yesterday and I was wondering if there was a comprehensive guide somewhere on first time set up. For example, blocking/removing bloatware, making sure privacy and security settings are correct, that sort of thing.

i'm guessing you're on Android?

If you're blocking bloatware and is on the latest android go to settings>apps>select  the app>disable

 

If your removing bloatware your gonna want a custom rom/Gapps to select which apps YOU want

Youtube is your friend. As far as bloatware is concerned you normally cant delete that. Unless you root your phone. Rooting your phone WILL VOID THE WARRANTY! You can disable the stuff for the most part.

I'd say turn on developer options which is accessed through the about device and tapping the build number around 7 times.

 

You can speed up animations by making them draw twice as fast, which gives some more snappiness.

If you want to remove bloats, just purchase Titanium Backup pro. You can use that to uninstall the "bloats".

 

Of course you'll need root access.
