I'm upgrading my setup and I'm wondering what PSU do I need?

Aim for 500W or higher if you can get a decent deal your system shouldn't use much more than 400watts at peak and any decent PSU will provide enough current to the GPU

Hey!

I'm upgrading my setup and before I buy any of the parts I need I have to ask: What PSU do I need.

Currently I have a 250W PSU, but since I'm getting a RX 480 that needs 500W, what kind of PSU do I need to buy? 1000W, 500W, 650W...

My specs (now):

CPU: i7 4790

MOBO: MSI H81M-P33

GPU: GTX 650 ti

RAM: Crucial Ballistix 8GB

A SSD and HDD drives

My specs (after):

CPU: i7 4790

MOBO: MSI H81M-P33

GPU: XFX Radeon RX 480 8GB

RAM: Crucial Ballistix 8GB

A SSD and HDD drives

Please tell me. I need you!!!

Hello, as far as my research goes, you won't need a very strong psu. But i always like to have a little extra.
So personally, I'd go for this (750 watt):
https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-CX750M-BRONZE-Haswell-Modular/dp/B00ALK3KEM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1468862817&sr=8-3&keywords=corsair+psu+750
https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-CX750-Supply-Bronze-Certified/dp/B008RJZQSW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468862817&sr=8-1&keywords=corsair+psu+750

If you want to go a bit cheaper and lower wattage I would go for this (600 watt):
https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-CX600-Supply-Bronze-Certified/dp/B0092ML0OC/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1468861434&sr=1-1&keywords=corsair+psu

And If you may be wondering, I do prefer corsair for their psu's.

I'd go for the 500-650W range. If you have a thicker wallet you could go for the Corsair RM650 for example, which is fully modular as well. If it needs to be budget, then you should be able to pick up a Corsair CX600 for 50 or 60 bucks on newegg.

Just wondering, what's your price range? Do you prefer future proofing or having a psu which is just perfect (if not a tiny bit better) for the now?

An EVGA 650GQ or 750B2 are both great and have way more power than you need.
