Is it worth waiting for the GTX 1060?

vberl

I am currently building a PC and I don't have a graphics card yet. I have a budget of about $300 for my graphics card.

IF you can grab a GTX 1060 at launch with the MSRP that nvidia is suggesting then that would fit your budget fine. But if the launch is anything like the 1070/80, the price is gonna be jacked up because of the supply/demand. If you need a GPU right away you could consider getting a RX 480 unless you get snag a 1060.

The 1060 will mostly not be going for MSRP $250. It will be sold out everywhere and will most likely be over $300.

The RX 480 is sold out everywhere,

If you can find a GTX 970 for less than $250.. I would say go for it.

If you want to wait for the prices to drop to 300$ then yes its worth the wait. But if cant wait at all 480 is good option too, or used/cheap from store 980/980ti

If you can wait for the prices to normalize, then go ahead. If you need a graphics card right now, you should go with an RX 480.

Funny how at this point you could buy a new 980 Ti for $399 new and get it faster than most 10701080 cards... The 1060 shouldn't be overpriced since it's the low card but who the hell knows.

I would rather pick the rx 480 over the gtx 1060 because it sucks in direct x 12 and vulkan.

It comes out tomorrow, and there have been leaks of custom models at 260-270 models. If you have G-Sync, grab it.
