I'm suspicious..

So I'm currently in the process of building my first PC. It's been a while since I've actually used Windows because I've been a mac user for a number of years now. (be gentle with me..)

 

Anyways I was looking for a copy of Windows 10 and noticed that some places are selling copies for around £80 - £120. See below: -

Out of curiosity I decided to do a search to see if anywhere was selling it cheaper and I came across a few sites that are selling copies for round £20 - £30. See below: -

 

Software Geeks

 

Other generic google searches

 

 

So naturally these cheaper places are sending off alarm bells in my head. A £50+ markdown on software doesn't seem right to me. What's the catch?

 

I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this? Are they counterfeit copies?

You can purchase keys from 3rd party sites like this at your own risk. Alot of times they are 3rd world countries who get a mega discount or for free from Microsoft and then just re-sell them on website to make a quick buck. One of the common sites many people use is kinguin.net

If you need it cheap, go with reddit microsoft software swap.

It's technically not really legal to resell the keys like that, but if you buy from a good seller the keys are legit and will work with no issues.
