Need Help Double Checking Compatibility For My PC

I need help from the LTT Community to help me make sure my personal build will work together because it is my first build.

 

another concern is that my power supply doesnt have enough voltage to power the system and since i want some head room with the wattage because i might try overclocking.

 

i hope you guys can help me out since im new to this forum and pc building.

Get a PSU from tiers 1 to 4 on this list, the wattage is fine but the quality isn't fine for a system like that:

Other than that maybe get a better cooler like a Hyper 212 or Cryorig H5 (The latter is better)

Why get a 4790k when a 6700k costs the same or less?

Why LGA1150? Why not a 6700K and DDR4. Basically the same price with better future support

CPU and mobo are compatible. I recon that FC is typo. And I concur with above. When you are going for long term system, why not pick latest gen?

The motherboard is on sale for just 80 bucks for a limited time.  Great deal.

 

I also would recommend an SSD.  Personally I'd drop in a 950 pro M.2 since the board supports it.  It's more costly to go this way than a 2.5" 850 pro that would also be a very good option though.  There are also 850 options that fit in the M.2 port but they are no faster than the 2.5" drives - unlike the 950 pro that uses PCIEx4 instead of SATA.

I would point out that the cooler you chose won't likely have any room for any overclocking and may result in high cpu temps.  I think the hyper 212 would perform better, but I haven't really compared the two.

There's something cool here - you just can't see it.

If you're looking to do any serious overclocking, definitely look into something far better than 212 even.  All in one water or perhaps that really nice noctua Linus likes

i dont think im gonna do serious overclocking i want to just try it for now. and since its my first build i dont want to dive into liquid cooling yet

just one more thing will i need to buy SATA data and power cables for my hard drive because i want to use the hard drive from my old pc which is the same one on the list which already has windows 10 on it  {i put it on there to check compatibly and estimate wattage needed}.

You get SATA data cables with the motherboard, and the power supply has the SATA power cables.

 

I would suggest a different psu though.

If your current drive with windows 10 on it is not a retail copy of windows and came in a pre-built computer or was purchased as an OEM license, it cannot be moved to the new motherboard.

Yes, OEM Windows installs are tied to the motherboard they are first activated from.  The EULA does allow change for the same motherboard model or substantially similar in the event of failure.

i cant find the psu on pcpart picker any idea why? it might be hidden because for example if ive already picked out a mother board that can use ddr4 the site will hide all ddr3 memory because its not compatible with the mother board so something like that might be happening. so i might have to go with the psu that is more expensive then

It all depends on the license tied to the disk.  If it's an OEM license then no.  If it's Retail and the other computer is not in use then yes.

Notice on the key where it says OEM?  That means it's tied to a single computer.  If it has a manufacturer name on it like Dell ect it's also OEM.

and an off topic question how often is it that some parts come damaged or broken?

and can i still use the hard drive from my old pc? and if so will i need to uninstall windows on it before i transfer it to my new pc?
